A friend took me for a ride in a Porsche Turbo and after the ride I said to myself. Wow my type R sucks, that thing just goes and it keeps going and just thinking that no matter what I'll do to my R, it would never touch that car. I'm very sad now.

 

thats a big price difference between the 2 cars aswell as specs - so dont feel so bad.

If your car car could out perform his car, well, Porshe wouldnt be a PORSCHE.

Think of your ITR as the Porsche of Japan.

Enginered for the purist.
Light weight.
Great handling.
Racing heritage.
Reliable.
Practical.

And more importantly.......AFFORDABLE to the common masses.

The ITR is a chance for the boy racer who wants a car with the same engineering and heriatge as the exotic cars as Porsche & Ferrari etc etc posses but cant afford to pay the dollars.

And what you still get is truly unique street lega circuit racer that hasnt been as successfully engineered as again, Porsche's own 1973 2.7 Lt Carerra RS.

911 turbo must be great, still i wouldnt get one if i could, i just dont like cars with turbo, but i would get the gt3
The R isnt in the same level as a porsche ($) but it beats boxsters and can keep up with boxster S in open road until certain speed 130 (at least i did and i know he was pulling because it was a friend of mine and we did a rolling start at 15 mph in 2nd gear, i have i/h/e)
Here in my country a 911 turbo was tested in a circuit by a professional pilot and did a lap in 2:05 and when we have trackdays the average the R´s do there is around 2:12.
How do you think the R would do with a JUN engine against a 911 turbo ?

 

911 turbo are probobly the best german car!!!
what car do you know of that can stay at 189 mph all day and not overheat????

Porsche is a racing pedigree, sad to say they make irs seem like geo metro!

 

if u pay that much of money, it better be fast!

I hate to be 'that guy', but no matter how fast you make an ITR or any other car, there is something intangible about a Porsche (I'd say any Porsche) that will make them forever one of the greatest cars around.

for the monay that you pay for that porshe and the performance that you get from it and if you compare the 2. I would think the type R is way better than the porshe and don't forget honda is a way better company than porshe. all you are paying for is the name "porshe" that's it

I love my R but a Boxster (even a non-S) is faster by a healthy margin. Street racing is not the way to tell which car is faster and its stupid!

Anyone have specs on a '90 911 Carrera non-turbo? My dad took one for a test drive over the weekend and said my car (stock ITR) felt a bit faster. Not that the '90 NA 911 is any comparison to the 996 turbo, but just wondering. And as for the "Honda is better than Porsche dude"...Well...no. Rob, you put it perfectly.
