Any B-series motor will bolt directly in to a 5G or 6G civic. As for what tranny, ecu, etc., it's easiest to look for a complete swap (aka. changeover) that includes everything you need. If you want to mix and match, any B-series part will fit with another B-series part (mostly at least) so you can get a GSR motor, B16 tranny, and ITR ECU, etc. As for what times, you'll be faster than a factory GSR...the rest is up to the driver. If you want to drag race, get something like the B16 tranny for the closer gear ratios.

I will run about as fast as a GSR. The civic coupe is about 2600lbs and a GSR is about 2700. I would go bigger in a coupe (b20/vtec, ls/vtec, or maybe H22). The last one we did ran 15.1, 15.3, 15.3.

thi swill be my daily driver, i dont want anythign FI or highly modified, all internals will be kept stock, teh h22 is too heavy. and b20 doesnt make enouf power. also i though the HX wsa only 2313lbs and EX was 2483lbs

Oooh, man...where's HX_Guy?...he'll get all peeved with the "b20 doesn't make enough power" thing...haha! If you're willing to open the thing up, you'll make some really good power with the b20. Also, don't forget that HP isn't everything...torque on the b20 is a monster compared to any of the other b-series. When you're driving around daily, I'm sure you don't want to rev that sucker up to vtec at every single stop light (well, yeah, you want to, but you shouldn't) so the added torque of the b20 would be really good for a civic! The header that comes with b20's is so funny looking!...it's pretty bad with airflow...all you would have to do is replace that and get a good intake and exhaust and you'll put down about 145whp...I've seen someone else do it. If you're willing to open the motor up just a bit, put in some Crower 404's and accompanying valve train and you'll put down 165+whp...that's what HX_Guy did and he was making about that much w/o any tuning on the cams. Just cuz everyone else likes GSR swaps doesn't make the other B-series swaps bad...it's makes them cheaper and more affordable for you to get and beat some of the guys with GSR swaps!

Yeah your g6 EX weighs just under 2500lbs but after the GSR motor & tranny it will be very close to 2600lbs. It will be a 15sec. car at best. Low 15's avg. With an AEM CAI, H/E and some other bolt-ons, you can be in the 14's.
One thing is for sure though. It will be MUCH faster than your stock EX is now. And occasionally you may pass a stock GSR if driven properly. The best thing about it is that it will be a sleeper.. at least it sounds like that's what you want it to be.

ok ok ok.... go for the swap.. get your motor and tranny and ecu and harness and get someone to drop in the motor for you.. Here in San Diego GSR motors are not that easy to come by but they are available.. Put a b18c2 motor in your coupe and you can haul ***... up the compression ratio with aftermarket pistons and you might wanna see if you can get a hold of another tranny.. depends if you wanna go 1/4 or 1/8... or get lucky and hook up on a type-r tranny with LSD.. Build minor internals with I/H/E and up fuel pressure and go for the 75 shot nitrous.. there are way too many ways you can go with the B-series motors.. have fun and ask allot of questions...

92CivicSiR thats nto what i meant, like i said, i am keeping the motor stock b20 compared to the gsr makes 30 less hp but alittle more tq and for me i think teh gsr will be a better choice because i am NOT modifying this car

If your friend with the GS-R is hanging with ITR's, then we have one of two possibilities. Either your friend has more than the intake he's telling you about, OR the drivers of the ITRs don't know how to drive.

The Ex would be easier...but if you buy an Ex engine wiring harness a b18c(GSR engine) will drop and plug right in the Hx. With the Hx harness you will have to add a knock sensor....easy, I did this. But the primary O2 sensor wiring is different, and a pain in the ***. I finally got mine right but it has taken 2 months. See what swap I have in my signature.

Hx would be a better candidate....slower stock then an Ex, so makes a better sleeper. Plus weighs less then an Ex. I think Hx_Guys's Hx weighed 2400 with him in it!

sorry to spoil the fun, but i saw where someone said that any b series motor will bolt right in to a 6 gen civic?? not so true....let me explain! the back mount bracket fom the civic cant be used! u have to use one from a 99-00 si or modify a gsr bracket (cut it/re drill holes) as far as ac if u r trying to use your civic ac compressor u will need a del sol (dohc) comp. bracket!! also the wire harness (6 gen civic only) is a bitch it doesnt just unplug from the engine bay it runs all the way pass the firewall then unplugs....so your better off modifying your stock harness (which is possible) to go with the motor....try to just stay OBD 2 its easier trust me.(i did it all) and my car runs very nice!
