JHP Carbon Fiber Hood/ First Impressions
Well I got my JHP carbon fiber hood from Loc at www.b17a.com yesterday and put it on this morning. Put it on my black 93 GS.
Install:
It was a snap it install, except I have to do something with the windshield squirters. My big disappointment was that in shipping the front corner by the drivers headlight was damaged in shipping. It isn't too bad and I am going to try to shape it so it looks ok. I guess that is what you get for shipping a hood from CA to NH by truck.
Looks:
I have seen some hoods that have creases or defects with the CF that puts lines in the hood. I can see only 1 very minor problem with my hood. You have to look at it at the right angle and you can see a very slight line. If you aren't at the right angle, you can't see it at all. Excellent quality.
Fit:
As I have heard, the JHP hoods sit up a little in the front and mine does also. It is only up about 3mm and Loc told me how to fix this. Nothing major. It also seems about 3-5mm too narrow on each side. This may be because it looks like they shipped it on its side and it might have settled a little wrong or it might get better once I fix the front. I am going to try to fix both these problems tonight. I know the first one is easy, hopefully the second will be just as easy. But enought about the bad stuff. The hood was not warped at all! The edge is even with the fenders and the top of the hood (by the windshield) bends up perfectly with the fender. Very nice.
Quality:
When I picked up the hood, it barely flexed. This is a good sign. The hood feels very solid. I feel so confident in the quality of the hood that I am not planning on running hood locks. Even with the hood sticking up a little in the front, and driving into work at 80mph, the hood barely moved. I'm sure that once I fix the front, it will be perfect.
Overall:
Up here in NH you don't get to see to many CF hoods, but of those I have seen, this is the best. I'm sure that the spoon hood is better, but at $525 shipped it can't be beat. I would recommend this hood to everyone.
I will update this tomorrow when I have fixed the fit problems.

I also purchased a JHP.com hood. It was local pickup for me, so i saved myself the money and trouble of shipping. The fit as you described was excellent. i'd reccomend the hood to anyone.
I will hopefully have some pics tomorrow. I didn't want to take any pictures until I had time to address the 2 fit problems I am having. As long as we don't get the thunderstorms tonight that is forecasted.
