Default USGP at Indy next weekend (9/27-28) - Who's going??

Talking to Zyg about meeting up there for qualifying saturday and the race sunday. (pending purchase of tickets).

Just wondering who is planning to be there!
(i.e., hang out, have fun, steal some F1 chicks for a while, crash on your floor, etc)

Chris - a n00b who has never been to an F1 race.

Mmmm ... I forgot about the F1 chicks (I'll have to remember to shave, though maybe they'll think the "grunge" look is still in).

We'll have to make it Thursday Morning for the Pit/Paddock walk though!
I've got virtually all the time in the world right now.

Though I have to say, in hingsight it's so much more comfortable to watch it on SpeedTV, at home in a comfortable chair, with a glass of wine and a bathroom/airconditioning/fridge!

That being said ... you only live once and I haven't heard F1 cars in person for over a decade.

Hrm... grunge. That's "Soooo early 90's", Ed.

I'm sporting a 7 day beard, no one should have this much facial hair grow in a week, damnit!! Maybe I'll break out my flannel shirt. Or grease up my hair and try to give the impression I'm some 'up and coming superstar' south american/italian/spanish racecar driver.

Maybe Lance will send his condo key, we could watch it on the craazzy *** TV... Heh, bring it back from the Glen with you Ed!!

Come on peoples! Who's going?

BTW - if anyone wants to go and doesn't have tickets, it appears there are still tickets available.

I wish I could go! This year is definitely the year to go. Points are sooooo close. Its gonna come down to the USGP and Suzuka.

-Larkin who has no time due to school and no $$

btw.......My best friend went last year and he said it was incredible. I hear that those guys brake so late that it looks like they are just gonna go strait into the wall at 180 mph. (TV doesn't justify this)

yup, I'll see you guys there... I'll be leaving NOVA (Ashburn Area)sometime around 4-5am on friday if anyone wants to caravan... if not, let's meet up there and grab some beer.

I'll be sitting in the bleachers at Turn 1, what about you guys?

Paul- who gave up going to NOPI to make it to F1

Edit: and for anyone that hasn't been to one, TV does it no justice at all... the noise, the crowd, the girls, the glamour, it's awesome... but save your money and watch it anywhere but the States... it's really hard to explain but it's defintely more enjoyable overseas...

EDIT: if anyone's interested, I've got all my pics from GPF1 Montreal online... email me and I'll send you the link. spd1snd@aol.com

Paul - where are you staying?
I'm trying to figure out if there are any hotels, anywhere, within an hour or two.

I think the seats are on the North Vista.... looks like it is in the T1-4 area.

yeah chris, thanks for the info... although we've had this room booked forever so I might as well just go with it.

but yeah, every GP i've been to, they always jack up prices to rediculous levels.

Up in Monaco, you have to get the room for 5-7 night depending on the place and you don't wanna know how expensive it gets...

I was just looking at hotels in west lafayette (purdue, basically) since the ones in Indy are so damned expensive.

Edit: Looks like staying in Meriville is the best option... 90/night. 2+ hours away in my car... maybe an hour in Ed's car?

Chris - who notes that tickets are still available in the same section as Ed's tickets... (since I have to pay him still, they are his!)

i live like 3 miles from the track and work like a block from it. I will be there. 10th and polco industrial complex. look for a PY ITR.

dont buy tickets before you get there, attendance is terriable and you can get tickets for the infield (which is the best place) for about 25-35 bucks

you want the infield because you can walk on the pedestrian bridge while the cars are driving and you can move around to different corners.

Yoshi, there used to be a LBGP.
Come on up ... this will take less time than that cross-country trip you wanted to abandon work for!

Wonder if I should wash my car for this auspicious occassion. LOL! NOT!

Doubt you'll find too much out there, Purdue is playing Notre Dame and from what I was told every Hotel in that area is booked up. I'd offer up some floor space but I'm afraid our Hotel room is pretty much filled up.

That explains it..... there was nothing, unsuprisingly.

We're going to camp, (ryan, if you are reading this... we're camping!) much better than driving 120+ miles per day.

You coming down sat or sun, mike?
