One word of advice on engines. You get what you pay for.
Your tranny will bolt up no problems. All d series engines will bolt up to their respective tranny. One thing though is you'll need some form of vtec control. Maybe an msd rpm ignition switch or the zdyne ecu converstion for an si ecu. But one other thing about the tranny. You WILL want the tranny that comes with these engines as they are designed to keep you in the Vtec range after each shift. Good luck and happy modding.

i'm not exactly looking for a dirt cheap motor... but something that wouldn't exceed the cost of the b16a motor which is a little pricy right now for me... do you recommend me getting the sohc vtec motor though?
i know that the b16a is suppose to pump out 160hp... and the d16xx with vtec is just around 125-127hp i guess... maybe i am wrong... but i rather US motors than JDM just in case something goes wrong... i won't be going thru some hell just looking for parts...
last.. the tranny for this sohc vtec motor would fit in the crx? i thought that crx uses cable.. and not the hydralics? thanks for the input...

you'll need to use an 88-91 tranny. the 92-95 will NOT bolt up. I'd just keep a look out on http://www.thepartstrader.com and other classified boards. I got lucky and picked one up from a friend of a friend for $350 w/ and si tranny.
Well this swap is very straight forward and you will have to add the four wires for the vtec and get and rpm activator switch, the tranny...if your stock Si one is still good use it, a hydro won't work ( good time to put in a clutch and flywheel if your going to build up this motor). As far as where to get one becaus eof the usdm versus jdm, you can find all the replacement part for the jdm engine (B16a) either off a 90-93 teg or a 94-97 delsol dohc or a 99-00 si, it all depends on the part. If you looking for a d16z6 check out that partstrader site or a local junkyard, you might try a local performance shop and see if they had pulled any out of a swap vehicle they had done.
ok... let's say i get a sohc vtec top end.... can i use the rest of the factory crx si motor for the swap.. or do i need the whole engine to complete this build? what about axles? the reason i ask... is that http://www.inlinefour.com has these parts.. and i am strongly considering it... thanks for any help
