Well recently i recieved a letter saying that i needed to get a smog test done at a "test center only" location.... i guess those are specific locations?? My question is why does that letter come and why cant i go to any smog station ... why is it only test center specific? The reason for me asking this is because i am going to get a swap soon and i dont want that letter to come again.....because i think those locations dont take charity....

 

You have to go to a Smog place that has the "Test Only" sign. I believe the difference is that in a test only the smog place is not allowed to mess with your car to make it pass as opposed to a regular smog. The test only smog is random, I doubt it you will get the same thing next year.

 

if you swap take ur car to get bar ceritified...since ur in cali a smog ref is like 2x as bad as a test only...

it is a random picking that they get you a test only...

they bring cars that have a high percentage of failing.. or older cars..

Dude, you're in trouble if your car is modded and you got test only. "Test Only" is a one time test. You pay for that test if you pass, you pay for it if you fail. You keep paying for the test until you pass. If your car can't pass smog, better have a stock motor ready. Unless you know a place that can hook you up.

 

i had a test only on my accord... i/h with carb #'s. they checked the block #'s, all vaccum lines and checked to see if the o2 sensors were in. then they plugged into the obd2 port and ran it on the dyno. 120kmi on the motor, passed with flying colors
