Tried launching again today...should my tires smoke?
i gotta work on my 60ft (2.4 sucks my ***). So I found a nice stretch of road with no traffic and revved to 6,500. I let half way off of the clutch and my driver's side tire lit up and then my LSD kicked in. I held the clutch 3/4 of the way for a sec and then let totally off. I thought it was ok...my question is should I have slipped the clutch some more? or does everyone's tires smoke some at launch?
umm yeah tires smoke....holding the clutch in is kinda bad.....I'm not an expert at drag racing but on my motor )non t ype r) I just reved it to 4500k and dropped the clutch...it grabbed nicely and yes the tires smoke....
my 2 cents but I'm no expert

Some tires smoke, some tires don't. If I burn the tires (ie pull the e-brake and light them up), they will smoke, but spinning off the line, they wont.
holding the clutch (slipping) is suppose to control wheel spin to a degree...it gives you a better launch than feathering the throttle. but there was a little cloud on smoke when I looked in my rear view. Im going to the track tonight and if I dont run a 14.6 or better im going to be pissed.
well the drag strip, and a road arent the same type of "ground"... so its gonna vary, your best bet is to find out where a good launch is on the street... then goto the strip and do the same there, more than likely if its a crappy strip, you are gonna spin a lot.
keep it safe out there

Side stepping the clutch isn't going to work in ITRs, you should get massive wheel hop... People have told me slipping from about 4500-5500 is the way to go... try that.
your clutch will probably hate it though.
