100 Octane Fuel?
I was just at the gas station and I was wondering what would happen if I were to use it. Seems tempting, but I'm not sure if more oxygen to the engine means better performance or bad side effects. Could I use it? $3.79..
I use it everyday...nothing really big happens...i saw no difference between 96 and 100 oct fuel, but you will get some performance loss if you go below 89 on ITRs. I would say...just stick to 91 or 92 or whatever premium fuel you useally use unless youre running unusally high compression or 15psi+ on a turbo setup.
Ive never even seen 100 octane at a pump, though i live in pittsburgh ive gotton gas in new jersey, virginia, west virginia, maryland and colorado.

You don't really need to use 100 octane or higher gas unless you are running high compression...I use it on my B20 VTEC motor and it loves it...I run about 11.3 to 1 and I definitely feel a difference...I have heard from several credible sources that you can see a 1-2 percent increase in power when using race gas if you run a high compression motor...If you have a stock compression Type R you probably won't feel any difference...It definitely sucks that California dropped premium octane to 91 Octane

uhhh....I looked this up....Shell & Nisseki says Japanese law requires at least 96 octane for premium. Stations like Nisseki and Mitsubishi carry 100 octane..
Yep 100 octane or 96 RON ........It doesn't mater I still run 19 deg timming and 13.3:1 C/R...
Using US octane numbers (Research + Method / 2) ~ is there a linear realtionship to net octane from mixing 2 grades?
For example: 6 Gal 100 (R+M/2 ) + 6 Gal 91 (R+M/2) = 12 Gal 95.5 (R+M/2)
I suspect my ECU is retarding the timing a bit since my R is no longer being fed NC-spec 93 Octane and all I can get is 91 Octane (occasionally 92). I've also heard that NC has one of the most well-enforced weights & measures (which assures gas is as it is labeled).
Eh?

Its not bad for your engine, but your catalytic convertor will go out sooner. -importtuner
It's not as though it's leaded or anything.
And... it's not that it has more oxygen in it either!!
