The problem with the auto, it has the same type of gears as the manual and they will still break. The GM stuff is cool cause its like clutches, not gears.

CRAWFORD has been on the same axles (driveshaftshop) for 2 full seasons and not too sure on how many runs on the tranny but i know for a fact its alot. these trannies cost about $3500 an di have one for my PRO-FWD Eclipse

Save your self the hassle of dealing with Leven 10. Just by the HPsuperkit from ALTO friction. They build the stuff for them.

Its the same parts, even in the level 10 bags for way cheaper. Less than half of what 10 wanted.

I run an Auto trans in my Colt now, I like it alot more than the 5 speed. I built a switching set up to shift the trans without the TCU unit so I can shift at what ever rpm I want and its allways shifts hard as hell.

The real expense right now is the torque converters, I paid 800 bucks for a billet converter, they build the inside assemblie for the purpose of drag racing instead of bending fins and trimming stators to give you a higher stall.

I had a modified stock converter at first and the new one puts like 60 hp more to the wheels because of the slip.

ALTOusa.com I believe. I just picked up the complete kit for 320 shipped two days. Thats everything needed to rebuild a trans using the Red frictions and Kolene steels.

The tranny is really very simple to rebuild if you can turn a wrench. I did mine. I also got a shft kit from Translab, you need that too..

My converter is built by Precision Industies, it stalls about 3500 rpm just stepping on it, then as it builds boost it get to about 5200-5500. I use a 50 shot to spool the turbo quick, the turn it off at 15psi normally.

Precision's site is converter.com, its under the dragon converter line.
My converter is really mild right now but they build it to stall how ever you want. Since I'm the first DSM auto to run a 9 sec pass, the demand isnt that great yet for a super high stall yet.
But I'll send mine back this winter and maybe raise it up a little

Tom

Who built the transbrake???? i havent seen one before for the DSM trans???

I think this new tranny will take fwd's to the next level. You are talking about the Rob Moore one right, Tony1 ? Only thing is it's gonna be hard to compete for those who dont have $15k-$20k(which I think is totally worth it) to spend on a transmission.

No, not the rob moore. This was designed by Bob Norwood and built by his machinist. Nobody has seen it except a select few arturbo...

so i guess the Hot Rod class and the Pro FWD class are going to pretty much be the same. I don't think that trans is going to be legal in the NDRA series.

Actually, the pro fwd is mated to a 9", the hot rod uses an oem style diff. And i don't know who guaranteed Rado to be the first in the 7's, but his new car will be very different from anything out there right now! I will guarantee 7's, but i'm sure someone will run one before the new car is ready. Bob and I are working with chris next weekend and we're shooting for that 7 second slip!
