Default AEM Cold Air Intake V2 for GSR

Did a search but could not find anything.

Is this intake actually worth getting over the older version?

I don't see the major difference, have you tried AEM's website?

Yeah I checked out their website and says something about the v2 having larger piping that creates more of a vacuum effect = sucks more air.

Just wondering if that holds true and if anyone has experience with it. Thanks.

i would just get the one that has the most bang for the buck. the old system is prolly cheaper now since they came out with the v2. you should also look into the injen system which can be made into ram air or cold air for those rainy days or what not.

the only thing i can tell is that the v2 does seem to have a slight deeper tone to it than the original cai. i got mine for free, but if i were in the market for a new cai, as you are, i'd just stick with the original cai if i were you.

with the v2, you've got to move over the AC lines with a bracket that aem provides, and also replace your stock tranny mount bracket with a thinner one which aem also provides

Stick with the Old School AEM CAI. I dont think the V2 will give you much more than the old ones...plus, like everyone is saying, the old school ones will be cheaper. V2 CAI seems more like a marketing scheme.

I understand AEM's theory, it should produce slightly more power. But as mentioned... the older one will be cheaper now and still makes good power.

btw...the v2 is a v2...not a CAI...(it's a new category of intake according to AEM tech support)

I was under the impresssion that the V2 pulled air from the same place as the original CAI. No?

yes, but the 'magic' is in the new dual chamber design...further up the intake stream.

If you do go the ebay route, make sure you check the piping diameter first. Some are only 2.25" and some are 2.5"

what is the v2's dimensions..i know it may be different for ls's, gsr's or si's, but it looks to me like its a 2.25 or even 2.0" bumped up to a 3". hmm.
