am i gonna get my *** handed to me or can i change this somehow without any drastic mods maybe an intake? i know it won't give me much but i figured it would be a close race his car is in shitty condition
Actually, I have a theory about auto tegs. My guess is that from 0-60, they go slower with I/H/E, but in the 1/4, they go faster. Why? I/H/E adds power in the upper rpm's, but loses a little in the low end. In an auto teg, the low end is where the car is slow. In a 5-spd teg, you compensate by launching the car at 4k rpms (or higher), but in an auto teg, you can't launch that high. Even if you brake-torque, you can only launch at around 2k rpms.
My advice: if you're racing to 100+mph or 1/4 mile, get I/H/E if you want want the best possible chances of winning. Anything short of a 1/4 mile or under 80mph, stay stock (or at most, an AEM CAI - these make great midrange power... they usually cause a significant bump in power from the 3-4k range due to the long, supposedly tuned pathway the air takes from the fender to the engine bay)
I dunno... this is only my theory. Either way, sorry to say it but my money's on him unless he sucks at driving stick
