what problems will i encounter installing 90-91 SiR bumper on 89??
i would also like to know this. what is needed just to put the sir bumper on, not the whole conversion.
oh, and dingusjt, where did you get yours and for how much?

I thought you had to do the whole swap?
If you can do just the front bumper, that would be awesome!
I'm definately super-interested to see what people have to say about this.

yeah doing just the front bumper is easy just like bolting on a stock bumper however it does stick out a little bit more...this pic right here is a SiR bumper on a completely stock HB... honestly i like the middle slope down on the stock hoods better than the SiR bump.
however i'm in a different boat because my bumper is going on a LX

it's was on the old TJ's site that he only put the SiR front bumer. If I recall correctly he use that upper metal part between the lights and the bumper and it fit like titeeee. I don't know if it was 89 tough.

I heard that the CRX was different to the hatch though, and you needed the hood and headlights. I could be wrong though. Oh yeah, and whats that antenna-looking thing on the driver side by the corner light?

the antenna thing is for parking, right hand drive cars park on the left side, and small parking spots in japan, small lightweight cars

I am not completely sure if the bumper will or will not fit the CRX
Anybody else got any input?
I would be totally down for picking up just the bumper if I could.
I've also got an '89.

YOU CAN INSTALL JUST THE BUMPER!!!
i had to put in caps to emphasize
but i must advise you to check out this thread...

as you can see in the HB's there is a filler piece between the headlights/hood and the top of the bumper.
on the CRX's that piece isn't there and the bumper actually slopes up to fill the gap between the bumper and hood.
that is going to be your probably installing the HB bumper on a CRX, and vise-versa...which sucks because in my opinion the HB SiR bumper looks a lot nicer.

Sorry, I'm confused at this quote.

CRX is different from Hatch in that the Hatch has a front filler piece between the headlights and bumper. The CRX just has the bumper sort of curve up to those lights, like a built in filler panel. And since the Si-R had longer headlights that part of the bumper would have big gaps if you stuck the Si-R one on a USDM front.
you mean sticking the SiR HB bumper on a USDM CRX right?? cause i think the picture above clearly shows how well the SiR HB bumper fits on the USDM HB
heres mine before paint. just remeber that its more rounded then the usdm front ends so like people say it will show a little.....either way id do it again if i didnt have the rest of the front end
damn you even went with those fogs...did you follow the cutout on the back of the bumper? what the hell did they call that model i keep on thinking "elusive" for some reason.

LOL!
Damnit, you guys with hatches are lucky.
I want a Si-R bumper on my CRX, without having to buy the hood/lights.

Cheap ***!! I would have already gotten a JDM front for my car if I could have went and picked it up instead of having it shipped to me.

its hard to see because it really doesn't actually stick out that much however when you pull off your bumper going around the top are black plastic rivet type things...which on the stock bumper are complete covered by the headlights etc.
on the sir bumper sometimes a few of them will be showing..thats how you can tell its sticking out a bit but barely noticeable.

To put the JDM front on the CRX, you're looking at HOOD+Fenders+Lights+Bumper. You MAY be able to keep your OEM fenders, but I believer teh one piece head/corner lights on the JDM front is a slightly different shape than the USDM ones.
The hatch is hella simple and cheaper when compared to the rex.
