Default What is a good all motor street set up?

I'm in the process of building my b16 for street use and reliability. I'm looking to put in about $1500 worth into it without major machining work. Give me some ideas or list of items that you guys would recommend. thanks

attack the head! get a nice set of skunk2 cams, valves, retainers. do a different head gasket, and get some hondata! pretty easy to do in your garage.

is it a b16a or b16b block?
if it's a b16b i would put a type r crank, rods
and pistons of your choice in there

I agree with this guy, "attack the head!" Talk to Luckyracing( i think thats his sn). I remember back in 95-96 my friends were getting some kick *** head packages for cheap. Back then luckyracing was associated with PYR, dont know if they still are today, but I see some good time slips associated with luckyracing allmotor wise.

Buy a b20 bottom end. Mill your head slightly put in some type r cams and you will get around 180 to 190 whp and more torque than any b16. It can be done for a little more than 1500 assuming you do all the work your self. I just finished one and it rips.

I did some research and reading and I finally got my list together. Something small but affordable($2k) ...let me know what ya think?

...skunk2 stage 2 cams, retainers, valves and valve springs with skunk manifold
...civic type R pistons and rings and new head gaskets
...and hondata for the brain.

Hmmm...no machine work......Here's what i would get:

Dtr header:$1000
Ctr pistons : $350
CTR cams : $300-400
Skunk manifold or type r: $200-250
chipped p28 : $150-200

These are very easy items to get. although your setup seem pretty nice too. Good luck

CTR pistons...
Isn't that a little high for pump gas?
I'd go PR3 ... save a tiny bit of cash

remember the ctr pistons are going in a 1.6, which is still good for pump gas

attacking the head is your best bet a nice port job ,springs ,retainers, valves ,a good valve job, some chamber , rs machines have a nice set of cams you should try giving them a call thier number is 310-328-5514 . the head is the best way to make nice reliable power

just to let you know AEBS designed a new intake manifold (typhoon intake manifold) that does 20hp more than a type-r intake manifold. It actually shifts 20hp throughout the powerband . Ill get dyno sheets up. I was quoted $160.
