Default any ideas on this?

when my 92 dx got jacked the guy cut the o2 sensor but left the sensor in the car...so i crimped all the wires together cept for the big white one..i pulled the metal shield back and just connected the wires, my check engine was gone and gone for a while. but now like when i get on it and say redline 2nd into 3rd, mid to high 3rd the check throws again, but resets and is gone if i start the car right after?...any ideas, is it becuase that sheild is not connected or is it something else?

Did you check and see if it was still wired up?

Something might've shaken loose.

Try soldering the wires.

try checking your codes. I may be wrong, but I think you can still have codes in your ECU even without a check engine light on.

Your sensor might be going bad. Because once you throw a code, it should stay on until you either fix the problem, or reset the ECU.
