New Rotors/Pads! Suggestions welcome!
Ok well I am about to replace my rotors and pads on my 94 GSR. I would like to do a braking upgrade (can't hurt). I think I am gonna go with Axxis pads and a set of cross drilled and slotted rotors. I am not sure what brand, possibly powerstop. What do you guys think, any suggestions? Thanks.
brembo rotors - 160 retail - i cant remember if it waqs here or honda-acura.net that there is a group buy for about that for like 100 off - green stuff pads - thats my suggestion - my brembros come 2morrow, i paid 160 cross drilled and slotted, powerslot want 70 a peice for just slotted i think. 20 bucks more for guarantee's and quality well known for sure... ill pay it.

Where did you buy your brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors?

Which Axxis pads? The mediocre metal masters, or the much better Ultimates?
You need to change the fluid too, more than likely. Valvoline synthetic DOT4 is good.
Save the money on slotted rotors and never buy drilled. Go with blanks, instead. Brembo are good.

most people will never put a drilled/slotted rotor to use. a good blank (like brembo) will do you just fine and save some $$ so you can put it towards some good pads as well (such as axxis).

This is true. Most Honda Challenge cars don't even run cross drilled/slotted rotors. Modern pads don't "gas" as much as pads of old, eliminating the need for those gasses to escape. Go to Autozone, buy some Autozone blanks, mate them with the pad of your choice, save some money, and be done with it.

Noisy too?
Noisy too?
1.) cut or remove all your dust shields
2.) put Autozone, CobaltFriction (my preference) or Brembo blanks on
3.) drive on them for a week, letting them *season*
4.) install Axxis Ultimates in the evening and bed
5.) next morning enjoy

I've never heard of this. Please enlighten me.

Rather than make a whole new topic, i think this would go good in this thread.
But i've also been thinking about getting a brake upgrade. I kinda wanted different colored calipers, when you buy rotors and "brake pads" thats not the same as calipers right?
Like the ebc greenstuff pads, are those actual calipers or just brake pads?
Sorry i'm the newb when it comes to brake stuff.

On other fronts, the OEM pads are pretty bad...if you like smooth stopping I highly recommend the Ultimates.

My budget is kinda tight so I will probably just get the Brembo Blanks w/ Axxis Ultimates. Should I bleed the brakes when I put the new equipment on? If so before or after I "season" the rotors?

Ooohhh yeah, I'm running hp+'s too. They're awesome. I'm using those pads, stock rotors, valvoline synthetic dot4 brake fluid, and the car stops friggin hard. Also, I've done a couple HPDE's, and have yet to fade them. I'd highly recommend the hp+'s with brembo/autozone blanks, and valvoline dot4 fluid.
Bill Hook: When I first put on the pads, they were pretty quiet. As time went on, they got a little squeaky, then I got my skunk2 camber kit and forgot to grease the bushings, so I don't know if my brakes are squeaky or not
The camber kit makes so much noise, I can't hear myself think, much less the brakes

Powerstop rotors are about the same price as brembo blanks. Powerstop uses a brembo blank, drills the slots, and uses their gold coating (For the integras and civics at least). AEM pads work good with them. It's a collaboration of AEM/Nissin and it works really well. Just my 2 cents.

I disagree w/ #1.
I could see doing the fronts, but the rears help keep the parking brake mechanism cleaner than w/o and not much heat is generated back there in comparison to the front.

I have brembo drilled/slotted rotors on front and rear, Axxis ultimates on the front with OE pads on the rear and teflon coated S/s lines all round.....highly recommended!!!!
Brembo blanks and Hawk pads work well. You might also want to upgrade to stainless steel brake lines if you dont already have them.
