Default skunk2 stage 1's

my engine is all stock internals (minus the skunk 2 cam gears soon to be installed) and basic bolt-ons, i dont have that much money for internals but i heard with skunk 2 stage 1 camshafts i dont need to change anything.? but if i get the stage 1's will i even feel a difference? or will it still feel like its stock (from what i heard) and if i get stage 2's will it be fine for the time being till i do the rest of the internals? thanx for any help

You're fine with the stock internals on the stage 1 as long as you dont change the redline. Stage 1 would be perfect with your setup if you gonna leave it that way. But remember, You gotta tune it with the camgears and a vtec controller to get power out of it, otherwise, you "might" lose some power by just plugging it in.

kool thanx, yeh thats how my setups' gonna be for awhile. i was planning on getting my vtec controller too. you think i should get that first before the camshafts? or will it make a difference if i get the camshafts installed, keep it there till i get money for the vtec controller, then buy and tune it?

when i dropped in some stage1s, i felt a noticeable difference 4k and up.
You will want some sort of controller, vafc or hondata to fix the crossover. Not absolutely necessary, but it would be a good idea to get it tuned afterwards.

With skunk2's you don't need to raise your rev limiter but the cams do make power past GSR red line. You could always buy internals if you plan on revving higher.

As far as the vtec controller goes, I would highly recomend one to take full advantage of the cams. If you don't tune the cams you not only will be cheating your self of power but you will have a bog in power at certain RPM's.

I plan on going with Skunk 2 stage 1's soon. I already have my Vafc. Talk to Skunk2nR if you have any questions, he's running a pretty good set up already.

I've been running my Stage 1's on my stock valvestrain for over a year, and NO problems. I ordered some Skunk2 Valvesprings cuz I'm planning to raise my redline with a chipped p28.

But if you're plannin to stay stock redline, then it should be fine. However, it WOULD be better if you had some valvesprings.
