Default Carbon hood

Fixin to order a Vader style hood from carbon creations. Comes to a total of 550 or so. Was wondering if anyone knows a cheaper place to get the vader style that has the same quality and carboncreations. Or if there is a Group buy going on

Isn't that the same as VIS Invader hoods? If so, you can get the VIS for about $350 shipped every now and then in a group buy.

it also depends on what mount kit you're using.

you should be fine, out of the 3 major mount brands, only one will still give you problems...I think.

VIS told me that the invader hood would not clear the bseries motor in an ef.

Do all these carbon hoods have at least as much room as the stock hood? my swap and turbo and everything fits under the stock hood fine. I want a CF hood but need at least as much room as I have now, my wastegate is close.

the thing about the invader hood is that it goes down further than the stock hood's indent so with a bseries engine you run the risk of hitting the valvecover/wastegate/exhaust manifold. When I had one on my 00si, it looked like it would clear the exhaust manifold, but I may have needed to get a 90 degree elbow for the wastergate, this was if I was going to use a log style manifold, if I was going to run a equal lenth tubular then I would have had hood clearance issues. If I was going to get a cf hood in my ef, I would at least get a sir style cf hood for the usdm cars from fiber images because the zc hood will only help with the cam gears, but what about the wastegate and manifold issues?

be carefull if you get one with the vents in it. i had an old friend that had that style of hood and every time it rained he would get water all in his plug holes and the water on his hot motor and exhaust caused the header to crack and rust up.

Im planning on getting one from Carbon-creations. Not fiber images if that makes a difference.
I have hasport mounts.
If it wont fit , then what carbon hoods will fit?
Thanks for the info

with my invader hood I had steam coming through the vents when I washed the car or when it was raining and I was at a stop light, but since I had a spark plug cover, and heat shield, my plugs never got water in them, and my header didn't rust or crack

crxb16a - like I said in my earlier post you could get a fiber images sir style hood for the usdm front end, or the zc hood from vis, but the sir h cf hood for the usdm from end from fiber images, will only be the sure fire way of not having to worry about the valve cover/wastegate/exhaist manifold from hitting .
