how many of you have blown head gaskets on these old D motors???

Default how many of you have blown head gaskets on these old D motors???

juss wondering if the composite stock head gaskets on 88-91 d series motors blow out ofen. i blew one running 10-12 psi non intercooled (thought i was boosting 6-7).

I blew one without boost... lol. But really, any SOHC D Series gasket will fit. (It might raise compression, but it will fit). A Better route to go when changing a gasket would be to get the block surface dressed, and get a copper one. They don't blow.

I blew one from overheating on my B7. Kinda boneheaded, but be sure to scrape off all of the remaining gasket material from the previous head gasket. I use a metal brush on my drill.

My Z6 had a metal head gasket so I just had to unplug and plug back in.
