Why don't you drive one first? If you still can't decide what car to get after driving the rsx and then the R....then just get the rsx. If the driving experience of the R doesn't make you decide right there on the spot, then it isn't the car for you.

I say go with an EVO or STI since the DC2-R is based on old technology.

If you are willing to give up luxury items (sunroof, sound deadening)
and you want in return great stock handling, great braking, lightweight car, then get the R.

If you plan on only street driving then te rsx is more practical. If you want a car that has no frills, and just performance, then the R is your car.

i know pretty much everyone says both.. im not real worried to much about hp. i mean i am but not that much, thats why i figured on the type r, cause i know stock its got some very nice power, but im more into autox and canyon carving.

Having owned an LS teg before, and test driving the RSX-S later as well, the R was an easy choice for me. It's not the most practical for daily driving or for trips longer than an hour (if you're a wuss like me) but it's well worth it for what you get in return. The car looks good, is pretty quick, handles great stock, and is just fun to have/drive. Plus, you too can be an auto-elitist like all of us when you own an R. lol

what your saying that they dont have a hype? maybe thats why everyone in there mom puts type r stickers on there mustangs and firebirds(ive seen that one in person-its sad) obviously they are hyped up for a good reason. but you have to admit they have hype and alot of it

It's an old car. Not really worth it IMO.

I just want to know what you mean by 'hype'.

It's a great car, but its a $25K (new) Great car. Not a $80K or $300K great car.

I don't subscribe to hype. I want to drive the car before I buy it, find out what I can about it, and know what I want from a car.

Do you have a garage? if so then TEST DRIVE an R. If not then get the RSX Type S.

The garage should be your first item to think about.

ITR is the way to go for outright performance, with comfort compromises; RSX is the way to go for ok performance (I refer in both cases to performance in all cases, engine, braking, handling, etc.) but without said compromises. Seeing that you live in CA, theft is huge with the R's, and something to keep in mind. CA I think is one of the states where it's biggest.

Yeah the RSX has 5 more hp and more torque, but having driven both and actually having owned (and still owning a 00 Type R) 2 Type R's, the choice is quite obvious. Like previously stated if you don't know or don't feel it, then it's certainly NOT for you. Enjoy the Type S and have me rip you at the drag strip and through the twisties even though the Type S's body is supposed to be more stiff then my "outdated" DC2....haha.....outdated...somebody step to the Type R....

if your asking if you should get one, you shouldn't get one its obviously not for you. by owning a type r you can't really take it out..well i live in socali so if you have a type r its a car where you go and park it where you see it. weekend car dont expect it to be your daily driver. you will never be able to go to a mall, movie theater, or any amusment park with out thinking your car wont be there when you get there. trust me personally i think its the #1 stolen car in history the type r.

Theres no point to buying one if your live in cali. It wont last a year unless you garage it.

I dont know about the 'hype'. Maybe if you could explain it to us, we could confirm or deny the hype.

Hey guys I'm back

Well I'm an ITR to evo honda trader and what I can tell you is that the ITR is still one of (not the best) car for under 20 grand. If you can find one in good condition for 17,000-18,000 (no more) I'd say go for it. Its a blast to drive, handles like a beast, and it decently fast in the honda community. Now for 20 grand your looking in the SRT-4 territory and if thats the case I say get that. After reading the recent Sport Compact Car article on the engine I would say they are gonna be around for awhile boosting strong. If you want to be like everyone else check out a WRX but again EVERYONE has one. IMOP if you want to stay in the honda crowd the ITR is the way to go, I like the RSX but its also pretty damn common and sacrifices luxury for performance in some cases.

Its really your choice new car or used one is also in the mix. You can get a new SRT-4 or WRX for either the same price as a used R or 1-2g's more. Well I hope this helps.

How about a civic hatchback with an ITR engine and some suspension mods?

Then you'd have something faster, lighter, and less likely to be stolen.

The ITR would be the last car on earth I'd want to own. Not because of hype, but because of theives. And you live in Cali...... good luck.

i think i should clairafy(did i spell that right) anyways, im not a newbie to the scene. you guys are probly thinking then why havnt driven/ridden in one. well thing is i never really had the chance to, i mean sat in one(lol) but what i mean by hype is that, you know you talk about an integra the first thing a person is going to ask is that if its a type r or not(if there really not into compacts)everyone knows what there are and there hyped up to be the best sport compact if the person isnt really to say politley(probly spelled that wrong too)not educated on diffrent car makes and other spor compacts. what im getting at is the type-r is a house hold name because of the cause of hype or everyone talking about how good it is.
but thanks for your guys helping me out and helping a noob on the board. also i thought about the whole theft thing. and i agree it would suck to have that happin(have it jacked) but i had someone atempt to try to jack my integra before, but i did alot of things to my so it couldnt get jacked. or at least it would help it not get stolen.. guess it worked
