Nothing wrong with 1st gens.. granted the 1st gens have a limited aftermarket, but they are buildable... problem is finding one thats rust free enough to build.

If its a Si get it.. if not then skip on it... good winter beater if its carbed...

Join Redpepperracing.com if you get the car... chances are it will be in and out of being up, having ISP problems with their server right now...

If its an Si jump on it.. As long as there is not alot of Rust.. I miss my 85, so light so nimble.. And you can get a 86-87 Integra D16A1 swap for almost free

I never said a 86 CRX is not buildable, I just said it's easier to swap an engine, particularly a B- series engine with an 88 - 91 model, more afermarket support etc.....

1GS KILL 2GS PERIOD.

THE 1 G CRX IS FOR THE CHEAP BASTARD. there is plenty of after market support but its not over polluted like the 2gs plus then you can join http://www.redpepperracing. and that place kicks ****

1 generation crx + b16 = One fast puppy, not saying a b16 in a second generation ain't fast, but the 1 generations are really lite.

1gs like torque b16a in 1g are only slightly faster then zc/d16a swaps but cost 2x-4x as much.

you can build one serious canyon carver with a stock motor

That is pretty crazy. My '87 Si HB w/ b20vtec ran a best of 13.6. I know the 3rd gen HB's are a little hefty compared to the 1st gen CRX's but theyre still a fairly light car. 12.7 is rather hard to belive but who knows.....

my 85 crx hf is the coolest car ive ever had, i love it! 18 year old car with VERY little rust... its awesome, soooo light. redpepperracing.com kicks a lot of *** too ! id go with the first gen for sure, i just got done putting 87-89 integra brakes on mine today, HUGE difference, everything to do it with new calipers, rotors, pads was less than $150 (front) i think im going to leave the rear stock for now

MIR & Dinwiddie VA last year...that car ran it repeatedly and was light, but technically street legal...red color

and i am not trying to stake an ego on it , just reporting the facts

but since people are getting crazy, i want to know why a 1g crx is needing more torque while being lighter than later models?

Si will be easier to swap because of wiring issues........but you can swap whatever motor you want in it. I have a 89 Integra and the mounting is the same. I think the Hasport mounts are slightly different but nor sure cause they carry a different part number. I like my lightweight G1 teg with the B16A. there is aftermarket support for the G1 CRX you just have to dig a little deeper. A lot of parts from my tegs suspension will work on yours.

yes, a key is setting up the front end as an integra with bigger spindles, axles, etc. (86-89 integra)

my crvtec motor went in with b16 hasport mounts and can close the hood. i also have the intera front end as described and went to bigger (27 mm ) torsion bars because of the heavier motor...

well i can help with a few other things too

i still want to know what you differ in, the suspension in front should be changed to 86-89 integra spec upgrade if you are putting in a "b" series motor

i dis agree with that torsion bars should be after market 25-29mm you will not get mutch more of a spring rate with integra sus.
