B16A swap
OK. I know when people start asking question when they are a noob, its not fun. And i wont get that much respect b/c i have only been here for like 1 day. But i have a freind thats getting a 89 CRX, and we plan to do a B16A swap. I don't know if it will be a B16A1 or a B16A2, we are still looking for a nice package. I want to know if there is anything in particular that we should look for or should get. I know a little about honda engine, i wanted one but never did and ended up with an altima. I love honda engines. I wish i had one. So i would like my freind to get all the support that i can get from you guys. Thanks for reading this.

ok well the a1 is 160hp and the jdm a2 id 170. also the a1 has a cable tranny and the a2 has a hydro tranny, the a1 is obd0 and the a2 is obd1.
blown90hatch sells a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness and hasports sells the calbe to hydro conversion kit. so getting the a2 will cost aobut 300 more in installation price than a a1 but i think its worth it for a jdm a2 because u get 10 more horses and a hydro tranny. but if you get the a2 get the jdm a2 because it has 170hp while the usdm a3 has only 160hp, if you do get a usdm a2 it only has 160hp and comes out of a civic si which is obd2.

Ok. I have seen some on ebay, and most of them they have a hydro tranny but they are only listing 160 as horse. So are they selling the A2 with a conversion or what. That and OBD refers to exhuast, or something about it right. I will search and look it up to though. Thanks guys
ODB = emissions control
lots of wiring
you're better of with a JDM 1g B16a from like http://www.jspecjdm.net or http://www.soko.com, cable tranny and PR3/PW0 ECU.

All I have to say is I would highly recommend getting a motor from http://www.hmotorsonline.com/.
My b16 runs like it's new, it doesn't burn a drop of oil, and steve at HMO even replaced a faulty distributor that came with my engine. He didnt have to replace it but he did it out of customer satisfaction. HMO gets a

Shouldn't have had a bad dizzy to begin with.... right?
Regardless, when you see firsthand an engine sent with a hydro tranny by mistake, then an auto PR3 ECU, then a B18c5 swap that ran EXACTLY 10 miles.... makes you wonder....
But like I said, I hear things are much better now.....

all motors that orginate for use in japan will read as follows B16A,B16B,B18C,B18A,B18B and so on. us market motors will have a letter after the last letter in the engine block code for example B16A2, B16A3, B18C1, B18C5, and so on.
refer to JDM engines as generations. a 1st gen B16A will have the 160 hp as a second gen B16A will have the 170. also known as SiR1 and SiR2.
good luck

This is true. I got my motor with Y1 Lsd trani from rims and things direct from japan. This motor is in great shape (little dirty but good shape) and it came with a complete wiring harness. The lsd was not purchased but I'm not complaining. I am now a distributor for the guy at rims and things. He is now strickly whole selling I'm so impressed with his outfit I'm gonna use his motors for doing swaps for those who come through. If anything is broke he's fedex it over night to your place. It's great. Anyways back to the point. Do your research. Their right the motor is half the battle when it comes to getting on the road and working with very few hassels.
