its gonna show me whether or not the cams I got are Spoon Cams!!! (which is what I was told) and they don't appear to be, my cams appear to be more silver/steel color- I'm soooo pissed , i think I will send them to GUDE in cali, i spoke to them and they said they could spec (lift and duration) the cams I have for free. I have tried to find other makes of cams that have the same markings w/no luck (ie "M.1381" engraved on the ends of the cams - opposite the cam gear end) agggggh...... sorry for venting - thanks typer98

THe cams have a coating on them that will come off once they have been in an engine for a while.

Are these new cams? or were they in a motor previously?

here's something to check for....
look for these engraved rings on the ends:

Spoon cams have the same exact cam ID as CTR cams & that's because when Honda makes these cams for SPOON, they use CTR cores. Spoon cams should be a dark color like any of the R cams - since they're made by Honda for Spoon. Also, the lobes are pretty fatty when comparing to R cams.

If your cams are a shiny silver color..you got ripped off.
Silver cams...sound like a set of skunk cams - cuz those are silver colored cams if you didn't know. I have yet to see a set of Crower cams in person...

-katman

how much did you pay anyways?

yup like what Katman said identical to factory honda cams

JUN have a raw metal color at the lobes, but look identical to the Spoonies. if i remember the Spoonies have a hole in them between the lobes (like stock)

good luck

yeah - the cams i have do have the hole in between the lobes, but the cams appear to be much more silver/steel in color (like crower or skunk2) I measure the length of the lobes on the intake cam - came out to be like 138.XXX, my buddy measure the lobes on his B17a cams (2nd gen GSR) and the lobes were longer like 140-141.XX in length - the width was slightly smaller on mine compared to his (but the length was longer than the width was longer in comparison - CONFUSING i know) - making both of us think that the cams I have may be f'n regrinds-I'll give this kid a day or two to reply before i contact the Kelawana (spell?) BC - canada authorities as well as USPS - for the international mail order I sent him

UPDATE - i just called the kid at home at his parents house (thanks int'l 411), it looks like I'll be getting my money back soon, and he'll be getting his cams back

I will be getting the real deal from A & J racing - BTW it should be noted spoon cams may be similar to Toda spec A's but NOT made by Toda - but really made by Honda - FYI A & J sent me pics of spoon cams same color as ITR/ CTR cams - for the guy that asked what good a pic will do me - much diff than the cams I have (which is why I asked) someday my setup may be complete - thanks to everyone that replied to my post w/ useful info i ain't soooo mad anymore
