Default exhaust back pressure

Ok so i have a 95ls with I/H/E no p/s and new sparks and wires, and my apexi cat back is 2.36" in diameter and it pops sometimes between shifts on daily driving , and i was wondering if i gutted the cat would it make it worse and ever since i put on my exhaust and everything else my idle has dropped like to 400 RPMs

if you gut the cat it will be worse, the reason why it pops is because of the bottle neck of the piping. You don't like the popping?
*edit, didnt read the part about your idle, maybe its not the exhausts fault

I have the same problem. I still dont understand what makes that pop after almost every gear if i change the gear fast it makes that pop, but why?
