ITR exhaust vs. aftermarket
I hear the ITR exhaust flows 30% better then the stock exhaust on my 96 SE, but how does that compare to say an aftermarket exhaust like a greddy or comptech, if i can expect the same gains from both, then why not buy a used ITR exhaust and save 300 bones. Also, could i expect to get a better sound out of an ITR exhaust when compared to my stock exhaust?
heres my .02,
The only reason I am planning on even looling at an aftermarket/custom catback is because I just put on a JDM header and want to mate the cat and exhaust flanges with the same2.5" piping.
Yes the ITR exhaust is a 30% better flowing system than the other tegs have. I think it is worth it to have if you aren't doing an FI or any bigger internal NA mods.
The sound is quiet and pleasant. After I put on the header though, my sound got deeper and more raspy. Louder but, NOT too loud.
I think it is a good product and piece.
One thing though if you do opt for the ITR exhaust, you should get the ITR cat too. From what I know and what my mechanic says the ITR cat is a very good flowing unit. It would be silly to just get the cat-back and not get all the performance that you could with the cat too.
Just IMHO.
I'm sure SMSP has got a strong opinion about this. I'm curious to see if he posts here too.
Good luck,
A.
PS when I had my 94 LS one of my plans was to get an ITR catback. Especially after I installed my Greddy EVO "it was alot noisier than what I wanted."

Doesn't the ITR exhaust and cat have to be modified if you put them on a GSR? it seems I remember something like it's too long or something.....
Any comments from the gurus would be appreciated!

I have the ITR rear section on my LS, with custom 2.25" piping. The sound is VERY RASPY. I dont know why, it almost sounds like theres an exhaust leak so im gonna have to check. any ideas?
I have the ITR muff on my GSR mated to my Greddy piping.
Around 2000-2100 RPMs I have this resonance form inside the can that sounds kinda raspy. Its internal, I checked it out really closely, I think my was gooberd up when I bought it. Works great other wise.
FYI..
