Default *** load of compression

i did a comp tes the other day right after driving it ....i got upwards of 270psi..some 260...i though it must be my shitty gauge...

so i went to my buddies work and they have a snap on gauge so i drove it down the block and just did one cylinder and i peged the gauge at 250.....

what is going on here...and why has my compression gone up since i got the motor....used to be around 220-230....

on that note with that much compression why is my car so dam slow

im hoping it could be build up on the valves cause the pistons look pretty clean since i got the motor

yeah sounds to me like sticky valves. I would take care of that ASAP!

You could have a lot of carbon in the combustion chambers. Does it burn oil?

have you checked the valve lash? i know when mine were too tight, i had way low compression.

maybe there too loose and not opening all the way.(just taking a guess here)

did you pull the fuel pump fuse so it doesnt spray fuel inside and raise your compression?

That wouldn't raise it too much....I have done it both ways, and it wasn't that much different either way, so I just keep the fuse in for ease.
