CTR cams in a B16A - Smog Results?
I am considering putting in the CTR cams in a second generation B16A along with the CTR valves, springs, and retainers. I currently have DC headers and the AEM intake as well.
Has anyone running a similiar set up with the CTR or the ITR cams passed a California smog check? I am trying to figure out if this set up will pass a smog check or if I will be running into problems when the time comes to go in for the smog check.

I don't live in Cali, but I seriosuly doubt that they will effect emissions all that much. Maybe a bit. But unless you're hitting VTEC on a smog dyno, I doubt they'll know the diff.
i have ctr cams in a b18c1 and the car idles the same as a stock car so i dont think it would effect emissions. Its a factory cam so it shouldnt effect anything.

I think that timing would have a big effect on the emissions results. It might be possible to get results very close to stock if you were to tinker with it.
CTR cams in a B16 will pass emissions as long as it's tuned right. I had to swap out my chipped PR3 for a stock PM6 but it passed. So I would agree, it has more to do with the tuning.

Just smog with a stock ECU, its adjusts your fuel automaticly in low loads (idle and low acceration) while it is in closed loop mode. It just gets feedback from your O2 sensor.
The only thing that I can think of that might make them fail is your timing. At idle you are pretty much screwed as far as being able to play with the timing (you only get a 3 degree range) to be acceptable for the inspection.
Using uberdata/turboedit/chrome you can play with the rest.

The ctr cams should have right about the same profiles as the b16a cams not in vtec, I think it will pass just the same.

That makes sense in terms of the timing and tuning aspect. I plan on running a hondata system with this so I should have some flexibility in the tuning. I guess I can set everything back to close to stock for the timing when it comes time to smog.
RZFD - I agree that the TODA cams offer much more than the CTR cams but the CTR cams came as a great deal to me (about $200 for both). I also don't plan on doing much headwork, except for upgrading the springs and retainers, so I might not get everything I could out of the TODA cams.
