Default b18c5 block and Gsr head?

c-speed says the compression will be about 11:1 how much hp will this put out with just minimal boltons? like intake header exaust and skunk2 IM?

Mine made a little over 200whp, with a stock block, itr cams & header, skunk2 IM, and DPR head work.

you think 185-190 whp is possible with stock b18c5 block and stock gsr head with skunk2 IM and boltons.?

Maybe, with some really good tuning and header. If you can dump the GSR cams, and at least get some CTR or ITR cams. That might get you closer to your goal.

im probably gonna use my dc 4-2-1 1 piece header im kinda on a budget and i found a good price on this block. so im hoping to trade off parts from my ls/vtec for this swap.

okay so what would be better in my sitiuation, Using a Gsr head or B16 head. i dont plan on doing any internal work on the b18c5 just yet.

i have a b16 head already but its been tapped for ls.vtec already and im not sure if i want to use it or not. so i was thinking of just trading it away for a gsr head.

many will argue that a b16 head is better cuz it flows better since it has a perfectly round combustion chamber and better IM, but the fact of the matter is, its not that much better unless your motor is fully built and running in the pros. i think on a semi-stock motor, a gsr head would be better because of the higher CR. compression make a world of a difference

yeah im mainly leaning towards the GSR head cause of the compression ratio.

you could always have the b16 chambers rewelded and reshaped to the pentroof
style chambers the gsr has...u already have the b16 head...*shrugs*

its a 88-91 b16a head its been around for a while. i could always use it ofcourse but i could also just trade away for something newer.

also if i did use the b16 head, could i just reverse all the stuff i did to make it work on my ls/vtec like resize the dowel holes and block the oil passage?

The GSR head bumps up compression by about .25 points. So a USDM ITR block is 10.6:1. Slap a GSR head on there and you've got 10.85:1.

C-Speed says 10.83:1 FWIW.

Well if you use a 2-layer HG that will get you your 11:1. I'm not to big a fan of milling the head personally just because it's unchangable.

A little research on the poster DocV would have enlightened you to a few critical details:

1) His car was stolen.
2) He hasn't posted since June of 2007.
3) His signature states that he is DONE with Hondas.

Forget this poster and search some more... this combination has been done THOUSANDS of times and there is plenty of data on it.
