Default not the valves...then what?

i thought i needed to adjust my valves in my 95 gsr cause the engine ticks kinda loud and it makes this weird noise when i take it above 3500 rpms. i don't really know how to describe the noise, which doesn't help you help me, i know. i guess it kinda sounds like a vibrating noise inside the engine. it doesn't seem to affect power output.

anyways, i checked my valve clearances and they are perfect. so now i don't know the problem. anyone have any ideas?

do you still have the stock header? search header rattle, pretty common for gsr's. a very loud and distint sound from 3000~4000.

if its a louder ticking sound then its either bent valves or most likely your injectors has been rev alot of times LOL injectors make loud ticking sound also and usually needs to be repaired nothign major

i'll check tomorrow to see if its the header. if its bent valves, i'm screwed cause i don't have any money. its kinda like a buzz/rattle sound. and yes, between 3-4k rpms. or sometimes at low rpms when i give it a lot of gas.

if its injectors, could i clean them or should they be replaced? i don't run the car hard at all. since this problem has occured, i don't rev past 3500 and i try not to do interstate driving. i keep all my shifts at about 3k and i cruise at 2500. even before the sound, i never ran it hard. i just don't understand the concept of ragging out an engine. why accelerate fast all the time? just cause you can?

i highly doubt that its anything other then the infamous header rattle...a crack in the B pipe to be specific...this is sooo common among gsr's so quit worrying its probably nothing more then this.

i have the apex world sport exhaust, so its not my stock b pipe. if its a header rattle, then thats something i can fix just by tightening some bolts, so that would be good news. it is annoying tho, and i feel like i should do something about it cause it sounds like my car is in despair.

infamous header rattle

I have it, but I've grown use to it.

The only real way to get rid of it is replace your entire exhaust system. I took all the heatshields off my friends Si and it still didn't help. Some part of the exhaust was actually vibrating. However, taking the heatsheilds off quieted it down a bit it still didn't go away.
