Default Insurance - Young Male

I'm 17 and currently drive a 95 Integra LS 4-door 5-speed. I pay $1700/year in insurance. I recently had a front-end accident that will most likely total my car and leave me with ~ $10,000 to buy a new car. I'm looking at the ITR as one of my choices.

How does the insurance of an ITR compare to the insurance of a GSR/LS?

Thanks all,
Ben

No that's payout minus buyback minus repairs plus resale plus mod sales.

Your insurance is going to go through the roof even if the accident you speak of was not your fault. If it was your fault, don't even bother inquiring. As a side note, your insurance co. should be able to give you a quote for anything you want.

Depends where u live.
Let see, a girl of 20yrs old living in Bergen County, NJ try to buy a 03 lefted over
Civic EX coupe and got a great price of $15K.
She try to get insurance under her own name and got a quote of $6,500 a yr!!!
So if u try to get an R at 17 under your own name in Jersey, I would say maybe $8K!

Yes, the accident was my fault. It ended up being a chain-reaction rear-ending involving three other cars all in all.

My name is under my parents' policy. In Maryland. I'll ask the ins. co. direct about this Q.

I wanna join the Arrrrrr club!

I was in kind of in the same situation back in 1997. I was ready to buy the R in cash, but the insurance was going to cost $8000. So I had to wait for my points to come off of my insurance. My advice... Wait 3 or 5 years (whatever it takes for the points to come off). Then buy the R. It was only until Dec. 1999 when I finally got mine.

I just saw the bill for the insurance on my Type R yesterday. I am actually under my parents insurance (they are the primary driver) because i still live at home and go to school. It was a little over $400 for 6 months of coverage. Now that is cheap. We have State Farm Insurance

What insurance co? I live in MD and have State Farm for my GSR. Perfect record and all discounts got me $260 a month. I would say your going to pay 40-50 more a month at least with a perfect record. Who knows with an at fault accident. Ask your insurance agent for the exact price, why speculate?

Though I was at fault for the accident, the state police didn't cite me for anything, so I have no points on my license.

Lol. Even though you have no points on your license, you WILL have insurance points if you made a claim
Sorry, but you are probably screwed

So, from all these posts, your insurance will vary depending on what state your in, what neighborhood, if you keep it in the garage or not, etc. I'm the same, my parents are primary driver of my car. I'm the primary on a 96 honda civic ex, pay about $600/6 months.
