Default eratic cooling fan on my 93????

when i turn the car off from driving for a while, the fan does it normal thing - on for a minute or so, then off. but recently its been coming back on and off inconsistantly and sometimes sounds like its cutting out, like a bad connection or something, but only after the normal on for a minute then off. after about 5-10 mins it stops.

anyone else ever have this problem or have any suggestions?? could it be the cooling fan timer? because it works fine at first, then goes buckwild.
tia,
john

The fan switch is usually located in thermostat housing, but I'm not really sure for '93. As soon as it gets flaky, unplug the switch. Does it stop? Then jumper the wires for the switch. That should make the fan run constant (with ignition switch on).

If everything is nice & solid when you do this, replace the fan switch. Otherwise get your DMM to check for corroded or flaky wiring connections.
