Default Dyno time costs??? What did you pay???

I got a dyno session planned, and was wondering if I'm getting shafted or if it's a good price.

The guy says he needs the car all day. Here's what I'm getting.

Cam gears tuned
Fuel pressure tuned
Timing set
VAFC tuned

Cost for everything $325

Time to finish 4-6 hours.

What's the scoup?

I personally would not "LEAVE" my car with anyone to Dyno it, take the day off work and make sure things are done right. The process of elimination w/ Fuel & Timing tuning should not take more than 15-25 runs in my opinion, and that is a lot of abuse on the car. If the car is going to be worked on for 4 hours, that price is not bad at all.

$50-$150/ hour is average...

It depends on what you are getting... Data acquisition? wideband o2 sensor?

For 6 hours, anywhere from $300-$600 would be ok... But I wouldn't trust just anyone to tune for me... Will he burn a new chip for you after all the tuning?

I trust the guy all the way. He's the best tuner in So Cal. I guess the price is about right, if not a good deal.

No, he's not going to be burning a new chip for me, I'm changing my P72 to a P28 with the Mugen or Spoon progy.

Price sounds OK. YOU MUST BE WITH YOUR CAR FOR THE WHOLE TIME. If they won't let you participate...PASS. Be sure to have fresh oil and all your fluids correct. Everything must be right before you get on the dyno. I get more excited on the dyno than I do at the races.

If your car is tuned correctly, it is worth every penny...I have paid from $60-$160 per hour for tuning, and I have not regretted a cent of the money spent.

I'm in southern California...where is this place/who is it that you are talking about here?

Also, assuming that a certain someone had nearly all the performance mods desirable on his car (Turbo and Mild N20 included)...Then what all can the Dyno shop tune (what needs or can be tuned)...And among the things that can be tuned, what are the things that MUST be tuned when running a HIGH PERFORMANCE HONDA...???

THanks for any help there...

Yeah, and I would not leave my car alone with some other guy like that unless he was close to me (a good friend or something...) He may be good, but I would not base that much trust with just his public reputation...personal experience has taught me otherwise in a bad way...if someone (who is usually somewhat conscientous) see's that he can take advantage of an innocent's credulity, they may do it...

Oh, and answer my questions please someone

are you getting it tuned by AEBS? if not, i'm guessing, "DR." charles or Fat *** Javier. i wouldn't recommend either. had bad experiences with both. never tuned with charles but bad experience as far as business goes and had that clunk of **** Javier tune my car, took him only about 20 mins to tune my car. left the cam gears as they were, no timing change and only tuned fuel for max UNRELIABLE horsepower. bad business deal as well.

if you are referring to javier as the best tuner, he is the best alright, the best at singing you a tune you want to hear to milk you out of every dollar you have. and when he has your money, he'll be singing a different tune...a tune of SILENCE because he'll avoid you and your calls as much as possible.

what a crock of ****. and this is the "best" southern cali has to offer?!! if so, i'm very, very disappointed!

I dunno, you are in Cali....there must be a dyno on every corner... here in Miami, there are prolly 5-8 dynos.... Average tuning is $70/hr, single run $15.00

But don't leave them your car.... they can f*ck it up quick.... plus, you CAN tune a car to get the most HP, but that can make the car unreliable, so be VERY careful with who tunes it and how well they do it..... they should tune for power AND reliablity....

Good Luck...

Hell no. Nothing personal about Paulice or Ben from AEBS, but their dyno sessions leave much to be desired.

I'm referring to someone in Orange county. "Lake Forest/Irvine" to be exact. Those of you who know the area, should know who I'm speaking of. I just don't want anyone to get into trouble if the price he quoted me is a "hook up deal".

You know what I mean?

oh, you mean @R\es D!Z*n. well, not much of a secret now. didn't mean to twist your arm for the info.

as far as AEBS goes, if you had experiences with them, do you not get the most out of your dollar? how good is the man from dynamic anyways?
