Can't figure out my smoke problem
I recently dropped in an ITR motor in my Ek , but ever since I dropped it in, it has been letting out white smoke. It usually does it in the mornings , so I figured its the condensation or whatever, but it also does it when I get on the gas. I checked the oil and the radiator fluid for any exchange of the two and everything is fine. The only thing I have left to think of is doing a compression check, but if I have a minor head gasket leak, will I be able to detect it?
Another ? I have is besides the headgasket what else could be the problem ?

You are probably running to rich but, if you really want to know what kind of shape your engine is in do a leak down test or even inject air into your cylinders and check to see if there are bubbles coming up in your rad.
My anti freeze is sparkling clean and the level is the same. Ive been checking it everyday. As far as running rich , what would cause me to run rich. I have my stock fuel pump and at the moment only have a full header back 2 1/2 exhaust with no catalytic.
how many miles on the motor...honda oil rings suck ***...i have a LS with type r pistons with about 15000 miles on it and it burns oil at full throttle above 4000 rpm...if i ever rebuild again i will use aftermarket oil rings for sure
Does it happen more when you are at full throttle? There are a few this that can cause a rich situation like if you have an adjustable fpr it could be set to high or your o2 sensor could be getting worn out. It could also be because you don't have a cat. I would just do the leak down test to be sure.

There is your answer, also what ECU are you running? What size injectors are on the car?

I have a friends who has a 93 CX with the same swap and the exact same problems. A week ago he had a leakdown at a local shop (Foreign performacne) and they said the rings were shot.
Try a leakdown and post resurts

chipped P28 eh? mugen program? if so, that's probably the reason why.....my car puffs out smoke too and its more than likely because of the Mugen progggy. try putting a stock P30 program or stock P28 ecu in & see if it still smokes.

Jason K? as in Jason Katman? as in me? lol...
I'm pretty sure I put a mugen program on your ecu.
The muggy program may blow smoke because of excessive fuel dumping (run rich) ala race program, thats how the program makes its power with engine, by dumping fuel. But like I said, try running a stock ecu in your car to see if the ecu really is causing your car to puff la or not.

one way to check the valve seals is to take off your intake mani and look into the ports..and see if there is oil sitting on the back of the vlave (around where the valve and head mate at the seat) usually after running for a while turn your car off then check...worked for me..hope that helps...good luck keep us posted.
