if both are 89-91 or both are 88 it might work. check the part number to make sure its the same for 4 speed and 5 speed trannys. STD is 4 speed right?

it will work, just make sure the spline count matches, and that the clutch disk and flywheel are the same size.

'88 has 190 mm clutch and 21 splines on the tranny input shaft
'89 has 200 mm clutch and 20 splines
'90-91 has 212 mm clutch and 20 splines.

i took this info from this website:

Sorry dude....they arent the same.

Get the 1.5 flywheel and use it on the 1.6 and it will work.

Well I did the swap myself, unless they look different but are the same, they are different. Of course I didnt spend all day making sure they didnt match, but at first glance they looked different.

The clutch disc is smaller on the 1.5 also.

And i`m pretty sure I`m comparing an 89 dx to an 89 si.

Heheh, Mistabone knows his D series chit. I've never heard anyone say that 1.5 and 1.6 clutches/flywheels are different, if it helps.

Want and *** cap?

Just relating what I saw. If they are the same great!

Oddly enough the pilot baring was different from the 1.5 to the 1.6 and that I know...the clutch alignment tool only fit in the 1.6 flywheel. Which implies that the input shaft has a different diameter.

But the tool only fit in one flywheel, and they looked different, the clutch disc was a bit smaller also.

Donno if its a canadian / american difference.

BTW I found why they are different in my case.

From the description I remember of my si flywheel it seems like the si tranny was an 88 and the d15 I was mounting to was an 89.

Oddly enough when I got the tranny I was told it was an 89 si tranny...never bothered to check when I installed it.
