Default Cleaning carbon deposits.... has anybody ever heard this...

This tremendous white smoke is caused by allowing Automatic Transmission Fluid into your engine then starting it up. This procedure clean the carbon deposits out of older engines and frees the oil scraper rings. This makes for more power and stops the car from burning oil. It also makes the O2 sensor freak out (until the smoking stops).

To accomplish this trick:

Remove spark plugs (keep them for the initial smokey start)
Set the pistons at top dead center
Fill the cylinders with Dextron ATF- about 3 quarts total- use a turkey baster or syringe
Let the car sit undisturbed for 24-48 hours.
Remove the ATF using the baster/syringe
Cover the cylinders with towels, then start the car without the plugs to fling out the rest of the ATF
Put in old plugs- idle for about 15 minutes or until smoke subsides- ignore the check engine light
Apologize for smoke to neighbors and fire dept
That is all - put in good plugs, and maybe change the oil

found this on the net
wondering if anybody ever heard about this.... soudns like BS to me, but actually has a lil sense to it...

I've never heard of all that. I have heard of disconnecting a vacuum line and letting it suck up the ATF, while holding the car at a steady 3000 rpms. not saying that you shouldn't do that, I've just never heard of it.

I think I actually heard someone talking about that before, I would never do it though. I would use the one cleaning product, I forgot the name but your suppose to let the vaccume suck it right in your engine. I heard it works great to.

Please explain how you set all pistons to TDC at once??

Read up on it, ATF may disolve carbon....the problems I'm seeing are:

- What about hydrolock, its pretty touchy
- Burning the ATF should leave carbon deposits behind again....so I dont see how it can make much of a difference

This method does work you guys. BTW: You don't set all 4 pistons to TDC at once, you have to do it one at a time. If your motor is running while you add ATF, you'll get hydrolock, you must follow the directions exactly to get things working.

i've actually heard abou the ATF being used before...i guess you'd put it where the oil would usually go (oil filler) and actually put some of it on the pistons (pull the plugs) turn the the crank by hand a few times, then cycle it out w/ a few oil changes. i'm actually changing my oil in about 500 miles, so i tried the sea foam today, i'll post back the results lay-tor

SEA FOAM IS GREEEEAT! i used some 2 days ago. bought the spray can sea foam and unplugged a vaccumn house that ran to the intake manifold and put some sea foam through there and it took a lot of carbon out of my car. now i've noticed that it idles better, runs smoother, and just over all feels much better. now all i gotta do is change the oil in 500 miles like the directions said and i'm set. can't wait to see all the crap that comes out with the oil. got mine at napa auto parts for $5.39 a can. the best part is taking it for a spin after you put it in and running your car hard and seeing all the smoke come out the back and people behind you getting owned.

WARNING FOR ATF METHOD
wax the rear bumper before starting the car, it will help to get the soot off that will be left from the ATF smoke.
