Do trannies often go out w/ slicks?
I'm curious if slick users often break trannies. I have a d-series and I'm thinking about picking up an extra tranny just incase it goes out one of these days (planning to use slicks in the near future) but if they hold well then I'd love to not have another piece of metal in the garage.
there are links between the tranny and slicks that go out first, such as clutches and axles.. but once youve beefed those up some parts of the tranny may decide to let loose on ya. normally itll be the diff bearings, or teeth on the counter shaft, or ring gear. gotta be dealin out some serious power though,.
No huge power here, the most I'll ever have is still under 300whp, it'll probably be somewhere in the mid 200's. If the axles go before the tranny then that's fine w/ me. I'll save my money and space
88-91 Civic/CRX along with 90-93 B series trannys have non harden pinion shafts.
Add a Kaaz or Quaife, bring a spare set of axles, you be fine!!!!!!
