The gear ratio's are different, and the Y1 was available with LSD. Check out this link for the ratios.

The J1 has shorter gears than the Y1.

The Y1 is geared a little taller since the CRX is lighter than the DA Integra XSI. The S1 and J1 were geared shorter to get the heavy weight of the Integra moving. The Y1 was offered a OEM LSD. The S1 and J1 were not. The YS1 that came in the JDM Integra XSI's were offered OEM LSD, but not until the later years of that generation.

I would run a S1 or J1 (Integra trannies) in a CRX, but I would never run a Y1 (CRX tranny) in a DA Integra.

But.......I would rather run a Y1 tranny in an Integra with a high revving B16 RATHER THAN running a "A1" U.S. LS tranny with the B16.

YUCK! Ive seen some people just buy a B16 engine and couple it to their U.S. cable LS trannies. The B16 has no torque for that kind of long gearing!

How you check to see if your Y1 has the lsd? I got a Y1 with my B16a which is going into a EF hatch. I was just curious if I could run the number and find out. It's still got the sticker on it and everything.

you can look through the little hole in the tranny and if there is a bar its non lsd, if there is no bar you have an lsd tranny

Don't pay any attention to numbers or the letters "LSD" stamped on the case. There are many scammers out there.

You could pull an axle out and look through the hole. There should be no "bar" in the middle. If you are pulling out only one axle, you should the other end of the INTERMEDIATE Shaft, or if you pull the Int. Shaft, you should see the end of the Passenger side axle.

Or if you pull both, you should be able to see right through.

If the tranny is already in the vehicle and filled with fluid, you dont want to check it this way.

Instead do a burnout and look for both tire marks.....

Or you could lift the drive wheels up in the air. ENGINE OFF. Put it in gear.....and spin one side with your hands. The other tire should spin in the same direction, not opposite like in a open diff tranny.

I staired at that damn whole the whole freakin time I was cleaning. There was no bar. I mean when I got the motor it was so dirty it took me 2 days of cleaning it. I bet your wondering why I didn't have it hot tanked. That will be done when I rebuild it next year for my turbo. I plan on tearing the whole thing down. Hot dog I have the lsd trani. I wonder who I got so lucky. he he. **Smiles with joy**.
