Default Engine started to knock

well today the engine in my car started to knock... i lent it out to a buddy to drive for jsut 75 miles... and it came back knocking.... he says he wasnt beating on it... but why wopuld it be knocking... is there anything i can do to keep it going for a few more miles... liek replace the rod bearings??

depends on the knocking you are hearing. it might be a valve but most likely it is your bearings

i think your buddy needs a beat down

Did you answer it? Sorry that was bad. Could be bearings could be cheap gas. ask him if he missed a shift. You can be going 80 in fifth and not be beating on it. If you shift to fourth to pass someone and hit second, there will be hell to pay.

There's the problem, he should be able to answer your question as to why it's knocking. It could simply be from running cheap gas, but probably it is more serious. Bearings or valve problems due to a mis-shift are a couple of possibilities.

so how would you fix it....lets say it was a valve...do you have to take it to someone??
