First you'll want to wash the car.maybe even clay bar it to remove all the dirt particles from youre paint.then youll wanna buy some swirl remover.did you want to do this with a buffer? because even the buffer doesnt remove heavy scrathes and swirls.but i think the best thing to do would be to take it to a pro.

I believe 3M makes a pretty good swirl mark remover. I'm gonna be looking into getting some 3M products soon i'll let you guys know on how it goes.

These are nice tips but ITS SO EASY TO **** UP YOUR CAR with an orbital buffer and a fine or medium cut swirl remover. Take it to a pro who's been doing this for years. It costs just under $100 for the entire car but the results are great.
I tried so many things to do things myself but I was never satisfied with the results until I took it to a detailer.

just use the mequiars stuff and make sure u use some good quality 100% terry cloth cotton towels, wash your car thouroughly, then dry ti with a real chamois, never use a regular towel(this is mainly what causes swirl marks), then use the polish and other stuff, as far as the wax goes i recommend the meguiars gold class liquid wax, by far the best wax i have ever used, when removing the wax use the terry cloth towels and change towels frequently, this just give u great look

Peep this.

- Wash your car with CAR shampoo.
- if it's really dirty do it twice and DON'T wash it in circles.
- wash it from the top to the bottom with either side to side movements or up and
down.
- Once it's dry you might want to clay it
- Run your hands over the car. If its smooth then you can just put a swirl
remover.
- If it's rough then you will want to clay it
- Depending on the severity of the swirl marks you will have to get the right
solutions from 3M.
- Either Finesse It or Perfect It. Look for those at Pep Boys or your auto Paint
store.
- Those can be applied by hand. You can get an orbital buffer and that will cut
your work down as far as time goes but it might not give you the results that
others get by doing it by Hand.
- Once you are finished with that take it off with some Microiber cloths or Soft
Terry cotton towels.
- Continue with the sealant.
- Then finish it off with a Carnuba wax.

This is prolly the best way to either minimize the swirl marks. If you want protection from a wax get Carnuba. the gold class wax from Meguiars is not carnuba and so it wont protect nor it will last.

Good Luck.

I've tried A LOT of stuff, but found nothing better than simply using Meguiars cleaner wax and a good orbital buffer.

Try http://www.zainobros.com
They make excellent polishes. Z5 is what you need for swirl removal.
Definitely wash your car squeaky clean first and use clay bar to remove tiny dust particle.

don't use that clay bar if you run your hands over the car and it's smooth after washing it. the basic concept of the clay bar is to smoothen out the surface of the car.... but remember that the surface of the car IS the clearcoat first then the paint.

you shouldn't need to use the clay bar but three times a year...TOPS!!

Just my 2¢.
