front license plate.....fix it ticket?
i just took the front license plate off my integ...... i was wondering how many of you guys ride without your front license plate? and how many of you have gotten fix it tickets because of that?
thanks
thanks
The first thing i did when i got my car was take off the front plate. been a year so far, havent gotten pulled over yet. But its no longer a fix it ticket in cali. its a 77$ fine i think......at least thats what i heard.
hey im in IRVINE tooo..I go to UCI, I think COPS give fix it tickets for no license plates more frequently to fixed up cars. I used to have a 90 accord, and I took it off and I never got a ticket for like 3 years... But I had a lot of friends who fixed up their cars and who got numerous fix it tickets for taking off their license plates.
I want to take mine off tooo, but I dont want t risk it.

The cops around here aren't as **** as they are in other parts of CA, so I don't worry much about not running a front plate.
i've gotten 3 so far...
one from a cop who couldn't figure out how to right up a loud exhaust (it was only a greddy sp for god's sake - he doesn't know from loud - try an N1, no silencer)
one from a meter maid
revenue generation
and one from an "out to get all imports" cop who lectured me about all kinds of issues and made cracks like, "i know you'll have trouble mounting the front plate high enuf because your car has been lowered" hey dick, sportlines are not illegal!
i only pay like $15...anyone confirm/deny this new higher, non-fix-it fine???

I have had no license plate on my car for 5 years and last month I got my first fix-it ticket. It was a $25 dollar fine and I had to get it signed off. The license plate went on to get the ticket signed off and came right back off as soon as I got back home.

it all depends on the area you live in. if there is Photo radar and photo red light running cameras then they are out to enforce you having a front plate more. but if there is no camera things where you are, dont worry about it. just keep it in your glovebox and tell them you just havent put it on yet
Personally, I think front plate will make your car ugly.
I took them off all 3 cars my wife and I owned for the last 3 years w/o any problems w/ the law.
I figured just drive like a sane person then things will be OK.
Not having front plate already saved my a$$ against traffic camera once.

It's just horrible what a front license plate does to the looks of almost any car made since the 80's, especially to our Integras. The DMV should at least provide the "euro" style plates that are a bit wider, but shorter. They could offer it as a customized plate and charge out the *** for it (give the gov't some incentive - our $). Are the plates in Europe the same, front and back? If so, how do they fit that wide plate in the back? Seems like most back bumpers are cut for the more rectangular US plates.
PS - I live in NC where we are too cheap and rednecky to have front plates....YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAW

I have gotten 2 fix it tickets for having my front plate in the front window, I never put it back on the front. Seems after I completly removed it from the window, its sitting in my garage now, I have not gotten pulled over once heh, strange. I sometimes think its worse to have it in the window than not at all, because the police see it in the window, and that reminds them that you do not have one mounted on the front, but not having a front all togehter they sometimes dont even think about it.
It all depends where you live in California..some cities give them out, and some don't. If your car isn't overly flashy, you probably won't have any problems. My 94 GSR hasn't had a front liscence plate since day1, and it has 0 tickets for the plate. Previous owner worked in the city too!
A tip..have your liscence plate and one screw inside the car at all times. If you get pulled over, just say someone took out one of the screws and the plate was just hanging there, so you took it off.

NY requires front plate? didnt know that 'cause philly doesnt; thot it was the same all over the NE area. anyways, just moved to CA and still drivin around w/ the philly tag and no front plate. gotta change soon, but i hate going to the dmv.
I've gotten one before and it's a few weeks after i put on my license plate hole covers which i bought for $5 ea.
Anyway, i paid $25 to have it checked and signed off and now my plate is zip tied on my bumper grill on the left side.

My front plate's been off for over 3 years now. I've gotten pulled over about 6 times for speeding (never got a ticket) countless roadblocks, and i've never heard a thing from a cop about it.
In Texas, more specifically Richardson, it's a $100 fine; no fix-it ticket available. I'm going to court next Wed. for it so hopefully I can get it dropped or reduced or something...$100 is an awful lot.
Just a month ago I got pulled over for no front liscence plate and clear corners. They didn't give me a fix-it ticket, but instead gave me a freakin fine... the total came out to be $136.00. I leave my liscence on and but the Amber bulbs back in. Not worth the fine you'll have to pay... thas for damn sure.
didn't read the whole post (oops!) but it is a state by state basis.
I think there are only 12 states that don't have laws that say it is illegal to remove your front license plate.
and don't assume yours is one of them
if you are in a state that enforces this law, it is just giving a cop a reason to pull you over whenever he wants, and then give you a ticket. I ran without mine for 3 years and had no ticket, but some aren't that lucky.

I am a lucky girl.
Last two weeks i been pulled over at a road check and got asked about my plate.
One friday night going to the gym then the next week on friday night going to the gym.
First time i got ask...gave my excuse that i got into an accient and haven't got a chance to put it on again.
And the second time, i was like oh **** not again.
But i took them my story and they let me go.
TWICE!
But my Cuz is pissed off and wants me to put my front plate back on, but i am not going to yet.
maybe because i am a girl. Or i dont' have any other mods that stand out and are illegal

that is the line I always threw at them, and seeing as my front bumper did have some accident stuff on it, and my plate was in the car all bent up, they believed me every time and said that the next time they saw me I better have it fixed.
guess I never saw them again, but I put it on, I think I am the only person with a JDM front end that has the plate on it

If i could afford a JDM front end i wouldn't mind the ticket.
The cop said it was a 50 dollar fine. And that is in Canadian.
I still have mine off and enjoy it so far.

hahaha.... just move to FL, we don't need front plates here..... we don't use photo radar here either....if they want to stop you, they just shoot yer tires out !
As far a european plates not fitting.... the rear plates in just about everywhere else in the world have a long/wide front plate, and a narrower plate (similar to the US size plate) for the rear....
I got pulled over once for having the temp tag on my brand new ride because it was going to expire the following day ! WTF ?
I did have my plate in the car, and the pig made me get out of the car (at 4 am) and put it on. D*ckhead. But I showed him tho.... when he pulled off......
I shot out his tires....
