Default Vtec Question

hi...i recently bought a type-r(of course).....and it alreadi had few mods done to it....but there is some things that i am unsure abour...
1) the car had the cam gear mod to a Spoon adj cam gear....and i cant realli feel a big dif(unlike the sir) when the vtec kicks in on the first 3 gears...even on 4th....there isnt much gains...
i was wondering if it was because the guy i bought the car from tune it to havemore torque...therefore....lose hp??.....
and also....i would rather sacrafice torque for more hp....coz when the vtec kicks in...it feelz good....
2) after i mod the muffler....it seem to sound worst then b4(which was a spoon muffler)....so i was wondering if i removed parts of the exhaust(ie. cat, mid pipe, resonator, etc) will it be just louder???or will it sound a lot better??
3) and last but not least,....about how ,uch does it cost the convert to the jdm style headlights(thank god for the jdm)???

many many thx....
ps....i am in vancouver, canada....and it nice out here...coz the cops dun care if u are loud.....as long as u r not racing...they dun f*cking care.....
last time....i saw a cop stop ran a red light when it was speeding...haha

A) upper end power definately drops off if the cam gears are set for torque.
B) defintately take out the resonator, and have the piping redone to like 2.25 or 2.5 depending on the header you plan on running.

The spoon n1 is fine. Leave it like it was.

VTEC is ideally more smooth not having a kick. That kick is actually a dip in power which is not a good thing.
