how bad is it?
i have a 90 crx dx. DPFI SOHC 1.5l engine. lately, when i shift into gear, like right after i let out the clutch, my car wants to jump for some reason. ??? i think that problem finally caught up w/ me. i was pulling out of a mcdonald's drivethru and my car starts jumping real badly. then it just cuts off. i have a 1/4 tank of gas and my tempertures normal. i don't see any smoke caoming out anywhere. i get out of the car and check to see if there are any fluids leaking under the car. i pop the hood and check all my fluid levels and everything seems to be fine. no strange smells or smoke.
i try and crank it up a couple of more times and nothing. a few more times and i get something. it wants to crank but it won't. i think maybe i don't have any gas, so i push it over to a pump and put $2 in. crank it up and it sounds like its trying to. then i get it going for a couple seconds, and the engine is struggling to stay alive. then right before it cuts off, it sounds like the stock muffler slammed into the bumper and it sounds like the intake shot out air. try and crank a few more times and it does pretty much the same thing.
so i'm like wtf, and stop messing w/ it, and thought i'd call on the help of the genious minds of those on HT.
any and all help would be very much appreciated.

Any codes? I bet theres at least one.
If you think its the TPE, check voltage at the TPS at closed throttle and WOT and make sure its within spec.
I think the McDonalds problem is unrelated to your other problem.

I know this sounds wierd. But your car is acting just like my del sol use to when it was out of time. That car was a bitch after the rebuild. We had to align all the line up to the T or it would not start. Does it reak of gas? That is a tell sign of a bad map sensor. If I think of anything else I'll write back.

Yeah I would definately check your timing and see if you jumped a tooth or 2. Another thing that it might be is your distrbutor it might have have gone bad as well.
As for your intake sounding like it was shooting OUT air it was it was most likely backfiring which is another sign of your timing being off.

Take off your distro cap, check the rotors...my buddies civic did something similar, the rotor wasnt turning right (actualyl stayed jammed) so he was only getting ignition in 1 cylender.
I was gonna say fuel pump is my bet.....I`m betting you dont have enough fuel pressure (pump is dying) would be consistent with the lag in power you were expereincing from time to time.
