Default LED conversion Help

so i am changing the bulbs in my doors right now in my 02 sedan to leds. i got all my materials; 470Ohm resistors, my LEDs, an iron solder and i am at a stop because i do not know which lead on the LED to solder the resistor to, is it to the anode side (+) ? And when i do that how do i hook it up to the power source to get it lighted up?

EDIT: and how do i get that bulb and socket out of the door side!!

if this is the lower bulb at the doors, the cover just pops off with a flat-head screwdrive and the bulb pulls out.

can i ask why you're going thru all this trouble tho?

ty man that helped a lot, i think i got it now.
im doing this just for the learning experience and to make my car less boring.
its really not hard at all, maybe less than 30 minutes if you have all the materials.

ok new update, i tried to install the lights and then it blew the fuse for all the courtesy interior lights. now after i fixed it with a replacement fuse, i am asking what was the problem? was it my resistor? and how many volts is the power source? one person told me to wrap up all the naked wires with electrical tape, is that the waY?
