Default Braille Lightweight Acrylic Rear Window For EP3 - Need a Volunteer to Help in the Mold Process.

To all EP3 Owners:

Braille Auto Development will be releasing its lightweight rear window/carbon hatch combination at the SEMA show. Due to the technical nature of the Honda-Tech web-site we felt this would be an appropriate source to help fill our needs.

What does Braille Auto Development need from you?

We are looking for EP3 owners who are building project cars, or who have more than one vehicle to donate their rear glass from the EP3 Civic SI to Braille Auto Development for testing purposes.

Why does Braille Auto Development need your stock glass?

The final windows will be completed in about 4 weeks. We need to examine the stock glass to ensure the highest quality final product. By taking various samples we are able to determine factory tolerances (in the real-world) and more accurately mold our production version of the OEM replacement window.

What will you receive from Braille?

Those that donate the rear window glass to Braille Auto Development will receive one Braille window kit for FREE! Or they may purchase the Braille No-Weight Carbon Hatch which comes complete with the window for only the cost of the actual carbon hatch, the window comes with it free!

When will I need to send Braille the Window?

Due to the dates of our product release in November we must have all applications in by the 20th of September. You will need to be ready to ship the window by that date.

Who can apply?

Any EP3 owners who can live without their rear glass for 4-6 weeks.

Once again, how much does this cost me?

Braille Auto Development will cover the shipping of the window from your location to our production facilities. Braille will also cover the shipping of the new window or hatch back to you. You will be responsible for safely packaging the window and preparing it for shipping.

Additional product information:

The Braille No-Weight Acrylic Rear Window will be available in clear or tinted versions. Braille windows feature OEM shape and use factory mounting hardware. All Braille No-Weight Windows have a scratch resistant coating. Braille will also be offering a combination Carbon OEM hatch with the Braille No-Weight Acrylic window incorporated into it.

How Do I Apply?

Simple! Just download this application and fill it out and send it to us!

Thanks so much for your time and attention.

Braille will have its web page up end of october 2003.

I feel the EP3, like other Honda products will be VERY potent once sorted. Companies like Skunk2, Mugen, HKS, Greddy, Jackson Racing, Comptech and TODA are doing much for the power of the K series. Braille is here to address the weight aspect of the EP3.

Braille's No-Weight Division will offer:
Stage 1 products will reduce the weight of the vehicle 30-40 pounds.
Stage 2 products reduce the weight another 60 pounds from stage 2.
Stage 3 products reduce the weight another 30-40 pounds.

But more on that when the site is up!

The "at cost" will be our cost to produce the item.

Thanks for the interest.

Ok, so we give you our glass, we don't get it back and you sell us a new window at cost?

Am I understanding this correctly?

Whoever donates their glass to the project will receive a window kit for free.

The "at cost" is if the person whom donates their window wishes to obtain the Braille No-Weight Carbon Fiber Hatch with Window in it. They will only be charged for the Hatch "at cost". - I hope that clarifies the matter.

I would love to do it, but I can't afford to be without the glass for so long.

it's tempting.... and I don't even have a back hatch glass anymore as it was smashed by a bum in DC. Hmm....

OK, I may sound dumb on this, but the only dumb question, is the one not asked. Just the glass, or the glass and the hatch too?

What is the $$ amount for the cf hatch "at cost"?

Braille needs the glass only. We already have the mold for the hatch done in Japan. But the glass is all we need at this time.

The price of the hatch "at cost" will be discussed with whomever volunteers their glass.

Thanks-
Blake

Pardon me, but I just find it a bit ammusing when companies ask to borrow customers stock parts to develop products.

Wouldn't the proper way be to BUY your own rear hatch and develop products off that?

Just one mans humble opinion.

No problem - no offense taken.
I used to find it amusing as well. As many of you know, prior to braille auto development and still currently, I have many sponsors who do the exact same thing.

As mentioned:
Why does Braille Auto Development need your stock glass?

The final windows will be completed in about 4 weeks. We need to examine the stock glass to ensure the highest quality final product. By taking various samples we are able to determine factory tolerances (in the real-world) and more accurately mold our production version of the OEM replacement window.

We could just order 20 or so windows from Honda - but that would be very expensive over an entire product range and would still not accomplish our goal of measuring real-world tolerances.- Although it would be remarkably close.

Thanks for the thoughts
