Dropped oil pan and found extra stuff.....this can't be good PICS (56k warning)
I dropped my oil pan to install a newer one in better condition
And I found these metal pieces in the pan.....seems to be aluminum
what could they be?
parts of piston??
Car runs strong.....recently did compression test.....all cylinders came out strong.
My spoon magnet doesn't do jack if I have aluminum particles in the oil
Quarter added for size comparison

Press them, do they compact or crush?
Time to get some magnetic drain plugs.
Those looks pretty damn bad bro.
Some pieces looks like a wrist pin... Err, rod connecting piece

OT: What camera, nice quailty!

He already has a spoon magnetic drain plug.

Gee..... do you think so noob....?
They look like they are from the connecting rods or something. I try crushing them up to see if they are, in fact metal. If they are, I'd try to get a look at the rods and piston heads. Good luck man, I hope things work out.

or maybe those pieces were taking a nap in there for a long *** time maybe there not from the motor and the motor is fine
connecting rods should have steel in them...
only thing i can think of is piston....
what else is aluminum that could be in my oil pan? some pieces of the block?
BTW the camera is Minolta F300 in macro mode...I really like this camera....

Agreed, drop your windage tray, grab a flashlight (and your digicam...for us!
)and go to town! It's the only way to be sure what's wrong/missing/etc. Good luck, & keep us posted.

What a technical answer
The best would be take appart the motor while it's working so that you can replace the injured part/damaged part before it takes your whole engine

It could be "Casting Flash"... little bits of excess metal that came loose. When an engine is cast in the mold, there is some excess material that can sometimes stay behind/come loose. Check the internals for any signs of obvious breakage. Consider doing a "UV Leak/Crack" test...
These motors are die cast. You really don't get casting flash from a die cast part and if you do, the die is in bad shape or the mold was not fully closed when it ran.
Those pieces look like they are at least partially melted, which would make me think piston. I would agree with taking it apart before something worse happens.

if you find a piece of a valve stem in your oil pan you would DEFINITELY know something was wrong and your compression test would definetely not have turned out well...amongst other things
Looks like a mangled piston. Are you the original owner or did you buy it used? Maybe the prev. owner over-rev'd or something and snapped a rod and killed a piston and when they had it replaced the mechanic didn't take the beat up one out of the oil pan. It's a long shot but theres my .02
yea i would definatley take a really close inspection of the rods
and i could have told you the spoon plug wont do ****. the magnet isnt strong enough to pull particles through thick oil.

take a good look at the crankshaft too. yeah I also agree I wouldn't be doing any driving until I get that problem fix asap.
