electric waterpump.
Just wondering what everyone uses and why. Is there any particular unit to stay away from? I bracket race mostly so I need a good unit to run between rounds to help cool my civ. I was planning on modifying a stock waterpump to be just an idler and running a gutted thermostat to go with this mod. Any suggestios or crazy ideas? i dont ever drive the car on the street so streetability is out the window on this.
If you are looking for a good pump that moves alot of water check out the following site. The pump is pricey but I have seen it in a few local cars and it works great and it is very light !! you can also find some pretty good deals on radiators and other racing products, peter is a great guy to deal with. http://www.peterdmotorsports.com/
While iam sure that it would work with a daily driven car I personally have only seen this particular pump on a race car. I am sure that it would last a pretty long time and besides it has a two year warranty!!

most of them are only guranteed for like 2,000 hrs.
BTW, an electric water pump is great for cool down between runs. no need to have the engine running to flow water....just hit a switch and your cooling things down.

I went to the website again and there is a link to the manufacture of the pump, in all the info that they give it doesnt give any other info other than that it is warranted for 2 years. I also read a little more about the pump and the controll that is sold seperately, it is a pretty trick little unit!!
i think they are meant for drag racing only but it can be used on the street with caution. I think the pumps are rated in hrs so it might be wise to check the pump. They definitely flow damn good though in drag applications
I would think that it would load the pump pretty bad if you had a t-stat.
If you ran that setup on the street it would have to have a restriction in place of the T-stat to prevent overcooling.
