Default do u like the side moldings painted or left black??

just wondering

a shop i was talking to said if they painted the side molding on my 90 hatch,,it would prob just chip off
is that true???

after i lower my 90 hatch im gonna make the deciesion to get the WW RS kit,,or just leave it all stock

and if i leave it all stock i would really like to have the black moldings painted the same color of the car
could someone tell me what has to b done to the side molding for the paint to b good on it??

also if i get the WW kit,,does the paint have to have something special in it,,since the WW kit is urathan??

also what do u like better a civic hatch lowered with or without a bodykit

o im gonna get my hatch painted silverstone metallic(s2000),,

thanks mike

i also think that if i kept the molding black,,and had it silverstone metallic,,it would look good on some black rims,,and the tint thats on my car??

or even a nice set of 16inch silver rims

now do u mean shave it and make it even with the body,,or just fill in the holes,,from the clips of the side molding??
and then it will just leave a lil indention where the molding was??

and them i would just have them paint the molding that r on the bumpers??

no way...keep the moldings there. Keep your car practical, as for the moldings..id say keep them a nice flat black...or you can also paint them..but im not sure about chipping. But, overall, keep the moldings there...no shaving crap...its not the best setup when shopping carts and large Buick doors are around...plus there's always a factor that the molding will not come out the best....ive seen many cars with shaved **** and they look crappy..PLUS!! bondo is heavy

They can paint the moldings without any problems as long as they do it right. It needs a special primer and paint additives but as long as its done right it won't be any more likely to chip than the rest of the car. Mine have been painted for the past 3 years and the moldings are fine.

just paint the moldings it looks better then black.it is no different then painted bumpers (both the same plastic) just make sure it is a good shop that does the work(no drive in and out in the same hour crap) then you'll be fine. i had mine done about 2 1/2 years ago and not one chip at all.

I picked up my new wings west rs body kit for my crx last night and its urethane it comes with instructions on how to paint urethane. The side moldings will probably chip if their painted wrong, you need to have a special kind of base coat on there or the paint will chip when the plastic bends, look for a good shop and make sure they do it right.

it's just a flex agent that is in the paint.once i had my car repaired at this shop(had an accident) and when they painted the car they never added the flex agent so about a week later when i was washing my car i noticed that the bumper was all cracked so i took it back and it took about a month (plus a call to the owner of the dealership) to finally get it fixed then they did a shitty job (didn't even try to match the paint colors) so i had to drive around with a pure white front bumper for a while until some lady pulled out in front of me so she repainted the car for me now it all matches

i painted my door tim on my 95 civic bout 2 yr and on my crx bout 1 yr ago .
no chipping on either . dont shave it because it is really hard and expensive . and not practical . here how i painted mine on the crx well you need to sand the hell out of them , i mean the helllll out of them . first with about 180 grit paper . the go over it with bout 400 grit . then shoot them with plastic primer bout 16 bucks a bottle its some sticky **** , lightly sand after that , and then paint . shouldnt chip
or crack .never got over with a buffer . best to use chroma base paint . it really works good , main thing is sand the hell out of them .i paint my civic trim with
factory match paint from auto zone . it really suprised me , im satisfied , tell me how it turns out dude

Nice of this topic to pop up....this is on my list of things in the near future (unlike my Racing Hart wheels which are on the list of things in the far future!). I'm leaning towards color matching the black strip around the car, removing the little black wheel well strips, then blacking out the chrome around the glass on the car. (My Civic is white with a tint job, so I'm figuring on keeping the mirrors black - they blend in pretty well with the tinted windows etc.)

One of these days I'm going to run across a digital camera and snap a few shots so I can post em here...
