Default Prestige AUDIOVOX APS-996 car alarm any good?

How about just Audiovox Prestige car alarms in general? Well I was considering purchasing the APS-996. Are they junk?

Alarm Features:

Visual confirmation of alarm and remote start features on LCD panel of remote
1 five button icon based LCD transceiver
1 four button transmitter
Transmitter range up to 1,400 ft
LCD clock-alarm/parking meter timer
Vehicle interior temp indicator
Personal pager to LCD transceiver from inside your vehicle
4-mode adjustable shock sensor
Protected valet override
7 function super bright blue LED
Starter disable
Mini 6-tone siren
Parking light flasher
Vibrate/Tone selectable

It also has remote start, but I'm not going to be utilizing that function.

i have had one for 2 years now 9not that model though). its also keyless entry which i like. its decent, does the job.. the only thing i dont like is that there is a way to kill the alarm by pushing the valet switch in a wierd combo (without the key). i think you installers know what im talking about. correct me if im wrong

Hey Red:

what is "4-mode adjustable shock sensor " exactly?

Meaning there's only four levels of sensitivity or does it refer to something else ?

That pager unit is wack, the range is ****, u will be inside the mall and getting jacked, and they will drive off with your car, without you knowing about it.
Get a Cliffort Avangurd and call it a day.

Best Alarm for the money

i have the same alarm installed in my hatch.. its good for the money and has alot of features and extra channels to expand off of... i like this alarm over the viper790 because it has the extra channels, alarm clock, and other features that the viper and clifford rs3 dont have.. plus it comes with 2 remotes and the dei remotes go for 80-100bux normally and its it the only remote that will work with the alarm.. audiovox has 2 remotes and you can only use the 1 way remote if you wanted..

i love audiovox alarms. my old shop i installed 100's of em. good quality and great warrenty.

1 thing that i loved was remote starts....the audiovox had everything built in, relays and all. made it super simple to install. not like dei that had the 4 extrenal relays to pack away somewhere.
