Changing cams, do I need a new head gasket?
Hey everyone, I just received my crower stage 2 cams with the stock lobes today. Got a great deal for them. Im going to buy the springs and retainers later, but just wondering what all I need. Do I need a new head gasket? Intake manifold gasket? Timing belt even though I change it with the swap about 15-20k miles ago? Anything else?
Also, when I received the cams, the crower spec sheet said that it was part #63422A-2, and the applications were for the b16/17/18. However, if you go to the online site, it says the h22a is 63422A. The cams say 63422A on them too. This is correct right? Is the spec sheet just wrong?
BTW, which one is the intake and which is exhaust? One has a yellow ring and the other a blue ring.
Thanks

You don't need to change the headgasket unless you want to because your practically half way there, why not. Don't need to change the intake manifold gasket or timing belt especially if you change it 20k miles ago. Only thing i would change would be the camshaft seals so that you don't have any oil leaking in the future ya know. If you look on the ends of the camshafts, one of them will have a slit for the distributer key thats how you know its for the INTAKE side. Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
Oh yeah, im stupid. Thanks for the help. Only reason I was asking about the gaskets was because i was thinking of taking the entire head out, but i guess i dont need to. Thanks.
Hey, should the valve clearances be set like the stock cams are? Like the helms? Also, the online instructions says to break in the cams using only petroleum based oils. Any recommendations? Also, how long is the break in period?
