Nothing like the sound form AEM CAI

But if you do a search you will find the stock actually does really well in the HP area.

AEM and Injen are both fine intakes.

If I could throw another into the mix, it would be the Comptech Icebox.

Of the three, the Comptech is most similar to stock

-retains the rubber intake arm (which is perfect sizing for your motor)
-will not have any tendencies to hydrolock
-will not act as a "vacuum cleaner" since the filter is off the ground.

I'm going to agree with the stock box idea.

I've used short rams and an AEM CAI, and I prefer an airbox on a daily driven car. The airbox puts the filter in a location where it is both easier to get to for cleaning/replacement and accumulates less debris. Not only that, it's quieter than having an open filter element, less likely to ingest water than a CAI and draws cooler air than a short ram.

Throttle response is a subjective element. I think my car feels slightly better responding to throttle inputs in the mid-rpm range when using an airbox. But really no particular intake design I've used had any awesome power or response advantage over the other designs.

And since the stock ITR intake has a price of $0 for you, I say it sounds like a bargain.

When my roomate still had his 00'R we tested an AEM and my icebox on the street from dead stop to 3rd gear. I was a head of him in each gear. The length was about from the front bumoer to where the wheel welll started...So not much but its alittle.

We did this about 5 or 6 times and in each trial, the distance was the same...so take that with a grain of salt.
