Default Installing TypeR head onto a GSR block.... how will this affect C/R??

I'm going to be installing a TypeR head onto my GSR block. How is this going to affect my C/R? I've heard that it will lower the C/R so I'm wondering if I should use a Mugen headgasket to make up the difference? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
Gerry

it will lower it a little because the way the combustion chamber is shaped... it is a bit more open... if u want to raise it a little... u can go with a mugen headgasket... or imo id just go with higher-comp pistons

The combustion chamber is more circular than the square-ish chambers of GSR heads resulting in more negative displacement. This will lower your compression a few tenths depending on the headgasket (& layers of headgasket) used. If you are going to have the head off, have it milled down to the compression that you desire & use a stock gasket, that way you can always use the mugen gasket if you want a tad more. If you are going to tear the entire block apart, then yes, higher compression pistons are an option.

ditto.

might aswell upgrade the pistons if ur doing major engine work..it will save u the labour of doing it later on.

yeah, the GSR head is worth roughly .2:1 points on a B18 motor. again, it changes slightly, but that about right. so, your CR would be about 9.8:1. HTH, -C

I guess if you like coolant mixed with your oil & a fluid covered block along with oil pressure & head temperature problems, or just don't have the cash for a headgasket this could be a solution....

I would never not run a headgasket. I dont know anyone who races that doesnt have a headgasket. And i know a lot of people that are hardcore in the import scene.

Reason being is that the 2 surfaces are not perfectly flat. You could O-ring, but you would still need a headgasket.

F1 engines have no gaskets at all. The reason being that parts are machined pratically perfect. Unless you have a lot of money to pay someone to sit there an measure the entire engine and machine it perfectly I would run a headgasket.
